Thank you DSB! Exactly. We should at least be seeing if it's an option.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:Even if there would be questions over his effect on the stability of the club, Barton would improve our team and squad tremendously. He did indeed play (and excel) wide right in Newcastle's 4-4-2 last season, and although you fancy Coyle would prefer a more orthodox winger, Barton is twice the player SWP is and four times Weiss. He would also, although it's not really needed now, offer a central midfield option far more creative than anything we have there at the moment.
It's entirely possible that we'd be outbid, but I'd be annoyed if we weren't at least asking the question.

Which begs the question, DL'sH - who would you look to bring in? Peter Crouch for top dollar?

and I'd be very surprised if we haven't at least made an enquiry... thing is - we won't be doing our dirty transfer laundry in public...
there are probably plenty of players who we have made enquiries about that we simply never hear about.

Of course, any possibility is governed by the potential sale of the overpriced and over-rated Cahill, who, when I nip down into town this afternoon, I expect to find walking up and down the town hall square wearing a 'For Sale' sandwich board.

Were not in the top dollar market though are we? Never said we would be.Bruce Rioja wrote:Which begs the question, DL'sH - who would you look to bring in? Peter Crouch for top dollar?
I guess the question is who is available, and at the right price.... Campbell is the right price, but for me personally, I'd rather us spend the £1.3m it'd costs for Campbell on the wages of a loanee, say Machada from ManUre... puts some of our fans in a difficult situation given the club he's from, but the kid's obviously class...
Lets say that frees up some cash to pay £3-5m on a striker... We could do a lot worse than N'gog. 6'3'' and quick... given a run in a team (as he's shown in Europe) he gets goals... He'll also have re-sale value in him he he does get the goals, which lets be honest has to be something we consider as a club.

Does that not bring your 'a half a decent season' back into play though?David Lee's Hair wrote:Were not in the top dollar market though are we? Never said we would be.Bruce Rioja wrote:Which begs the question, DL'sH - who would you look to bring in? Peter Crouch for top dollar?

Sun, Sea and A&E - Wankers go on holiday, get drunk and subsequently injure themselves. Have less insurance than Maxwell's pension scheme. This is somehow deemed worth filming.

If ever I needed a test match to go into the fifth day - this is it!

BN ( today) is claiming OC has money available to spend and Roderigo is back on the radar. He (OC) says he's been encouraged by Eddie Davies and Phil Gartside to go after players but hasn't done so because of over-valuation of their cost. OC still talking two strikers and a winger.

Barton has officially stated he's willing to talk to ANY club, no matter what league they are in.drummergeek wrote:we won't get barton and i would be suprised if we had talked to him. There is not a chance he would come to us his ego wouldn't let him. i am glad

He probably is willing.
But he'll still go to the club that pay him a larger amount of cash than we can.

I'd say that's a 'bring it on, West Ham' invite.drummergeek wrote:and you believe that??Choppers wrote:Barton has officially stated he's willing to talk to ANY club, no matter what league they are in.drummergeek wrote:we won't get barton and i would be suprised if we had talked to him. Good, that should give him plenty to go at, that isn't us.Choppers wrote:Barton has officially stated he's willing to talk to ANY club, no matter what league they are in.drummergeek wrote:we won't get barton and i would be suprised if we had talked to him. Great footballer but complete tw@t. Not just all the altercations he has on the pitch, but a complete disruption in the dressing room. He hasn't got rid of that ability to call the manager shit, tweet away about what's happening inside the Club or get suspended for something stupid on or off the pitch.
I don't think what he'd bring on the pitch would be greater than the problems he'd cause off it, by being here.
With him in the team, being a class and a half above anything we have, Newcastle managed to finish no points in front of us in the league last season (but 3 goals better off on GD). I'll take a chance on not gambling on that level of improvement thanks.

We're exactly the sort of club he will be hoping will sign him. Us, a newly promoted side, Blackburn, maybe Everton and West Ham.drummergeek wrote:and you believe that??Choppers wrote:Barton has officially stated he's willing to talk to ANY club, no matter what league they are in.drummergeek wrote:we won't get barton and i would be suprised if we had talked to him. Re: TKIZ's impossibly brilliant all new Transfer Rumours thr
when all said and done barton is better then any of our CM but the bloke is an utter cvnt if we signed him i would give him a year before he started to cause trouble let's face it he's done it at every other club why would we be any different couple that with the fact we don't need a another CM i don't give a feck whether he can play out on the right my gran can aswell we need a proper winger which he is not, plus we got no fvcking money to spend on a position we dont need
on the other hand it would intresting to see who would win in a scrap between barton and robbo my money would be on robbo
on that basis alone
SIGN HIM UP
