Its been coming this. Aussies haven't been bowling half as well as they can.
Knew that at some point it would all click.
Not a lot you can do when that happens and the conditions are right.
This test is gone now. All we can do is hope we can beat them at the Oval. Though I think the series went last test when we demonstrated once again that unless the ball is hooping around like Pat Butchers earrings or the Aussies throw wickets away, that our bowling attach has as much penetration as an impotent monk!

He hasn't. Nor has Anderson. Nor Onions.Worthy4England wrote:If he hasn't, they could overtake us on wides before tea.Verbal wrote:I hope the good Harmison turned up today.
The whole thing is a shambles. Replacing Flintoff with Harmy ignoring Trott!? We don't need to win this one. There was too much pressure on the top 6 to perform today and a chance of this debacle happening. Trott would have bolstered the batting and gone a long way to securing the match. I've no problems about the toss, as the pitch now appears flat as a pancake and Australia are making hay.

Oh come on as if one uncapped player would make a difference.jimbo wrote:He hasn't. Nor has Anderson. Nor Onions.Worthy4England wrote:If he hasn't, they could overtake us on wides before tea.Verbal wrote:I hope the good Harmison turned up today.

We just had a session where the Aussies bowling clicked, the conditions were bang on and we were blitzed. Just like happened for us at Lords.
At their best our bowling attack isn't as good as the Aussies and thats the difference.
We had the Aussies under the kosh at Brum and they made what in the end? 260 odd? They had us under the kosh and restricted us to 100!
As he's a batter bang in form, then yes, he would have made a difference. Put him at 6, Prior at 7, Broad 8, Swann 9 and the line-up looks strong. The tail being as long as it was today meant the chances of recovering from that start were slim to. With Flintoff, 5 bowlers is a viable option due to his batting, however without him 5 bowlers leaves the batting far, far too weak.BWFC_Insane wrote:Oh come on as if one uncapped player would make a difference.jimbo wrote:He hasn't. BWFCI you're not seriously suggesting that 102 AO was about the best we could've done in that situation? Shit me.
It's hardly been jumping about all over the place, half the wickets fell by people flailing wildly outside off-stump.
Actually, 194-4 looks more realistic on that wicket than 102 all out.

Not exactly all over yet. A fresh start, a quick couple of wickets and keep the scoring down and we may yet salvage something. Mind you, that's if we bat like a national side and not Moss Bank CC. As for Ponting, he's answered the knockers in the best way possible. The bloke's a great competitor, a top-class cricketer, always focussed, and a superb captain. " He who laughs last etc" ...

In a world that has decided
That it's going to lose its mind
Be more kind, my friends, try to be more kind.

Pinched from the original Pru: "He who laughs last laughs loudest/longest". Surely you've heard of having the last laugh?Prufrock wrote:As in a joke TD.
