Re: PLYMOUTH'S stupendously all singing dancing transfer thr
His whole argument is utterly pointless. My original post questioned where Danns would be in the team and I suggested I thought he'd either be fourth or fifth choice. If thebish wanted me to clarify on that, he could have said "why do you think others are ahead of him?" or anything like that but instead, he chose to go on some weird rant about how I have no authority to say what Freedman will or won't do. Of course I don't, I'm not him. The original post I made was basic enough, I shouldn't have to make every point crystal clear so it can't be scrutinised by someone who is as pedantic as him. If he wanted to challenge my opinion, he could have done that but he didn't, he jumped on my assertive comments that Danns wouldn't start.Bruce Rioja wrote:But there is no discussion with you. I wish there was. You post up your opinion like it's the authorised version of events, then, when asked to substantiate you're either unable or unwilling to. Or, as seems to be the case here you simply accuse people of either having a pop at you or being childish. Why won't you answer the questions posed by thebish? As I said last week, I have absolutely no quarrel with you, I just find it arrogant in the extreme that you post your opinions then consider them beyond challenge.SmokinFrazier wrote:Nah, it's just me dismissing someone who either has a personality disorder or a serious chip on his shoulder. If that's how he wants to be, I'm not going to be drawn into writing long winded replies to his pettiness. It's ridiculous and childish, much like the way you keep making sniping comments about me or trying to drag me into an argument.Bruce Rioja wrote: That's probably the poorest response I've ever read on the internet by someone called upon to back up their seemingly baseless claims. Very poor.
If you or thebish want to discuss football, we can do that because I have no issue with either of you, which clearly can't be said the other way around, but I'm not going to spend all day replying to someone being absurdly petty in order to get one over on me. I couldn't care less about those sorts of things. Like I said before, it's this type of tit-for-tat nonsense which blights the forum yet you and he both seem unable to stop trying to pick an argument, so I'll choose to not reply to either of you in the future unless you're willing to be mature and reasonable.
Being that pedantic is pointless though and it is purely designed to cause arguments, and that's what I take issue with. Had thebish disagreed with me, I'd have no issues debating my points with him but he didn't, he just chose to jump on a minor error I made, if you can even call it that. If I say "Freedman doesn't know what he's doing" should I expect an essay from him, telling me how Freedman is able to talk, move and think, therefore he does know what he's doing? If I say "N'Gog can't kick a ball straight", is he going to post a long analysis showing me how wrong I am because N'Gog has, in fact, correctly passed a ball on several occasions?
If someone challenges my opinion, I'll discuss that with them. I've done it enough with posters in the past. What I won't do, however, is continuously reply to those posters who are looking for any excuse to pick me up on something or are trying to bait me into an argument.
Re: PLYMOUTH'S stupendously all singing dancing transfer thr

i challenged your opinion that it is ok to decide where you think Danns should play - then assert that dougie won't play him because he is worse than all of our midfield - and that therefore he is a waste of money - and that if dougie DOES play him it simply proves dougie is incompetent.
as a rational and reasonable alternative to your view (my view) - I suggested that it is better to wait and see what plans dougie actually has for Danns - and then see if Danns performs well in that role before deciding he is a waste of money.
I don't think that is mad, idiotic, pedantic, picky or indicative of a personality disorder.
there may have been occasions over the years where my posts have deserved personal abuse - but I'm puzzled that you should think this is one of them.

They might be good these signings.
They might be three more marbles for Freedman's lucky dip bag.

3 absolute panic loan signings by a very desperate 'losing the plot' manager, very surprised that ED has put his hand in his pocket for these three - I thought that we desperately needed a solid centre half & someone to put the ball in the net, not another batch of reserve team midfielders & full backs
It may well and should pay off against Yeovil I hope it does, but these three are WTF signings !
Re: PLYMOUTH'S stupendously all singing dancing transfer thr
What else would we be able to get though PT?
We're not in the most attractive position. We aren't going to get players with more talent than what we've got, but they are so underperforming that he's obviously trying to sign some pairs of bollocks, but who may well turn out to be a load of bollocks. It is a bit desperate you're right but he has to try, and good luck to him. If it doesn't work then he'll have to go. These lads might have a bit of character and graft about them and it might just tip the balance. So I'll go tomorrow, give them a big clap then cross my fingers.

I would have thought he would have a least targeted a centre half & a striker who can actually put the ball in the back of the net....LeverEnd wrote:What else would we be able to get though PT?

I'll back them and I hope they have that grit and determination that's required to get us moving, but they are still desperate signings by a desperate manager.

Re: PLYMOUTH'S stupendously all singing dancing transfer thr
People saying these are 'panic signings' well yes, yes they are. The club as a whole is panicking and going out to get players to shake the squad up.
This loan market is far from ideal. You grab what you can rather than choosing from much.
And you can't entirely blame DF here either, not for the fact we are having to shop in this market. The tightening of the purse strings and the seemingly restrictive transfer policy during the actual window haven't helped. If Eddie felt the squad was strong enough and a simple managerial change was required I can't see us going for all these loans. I really can't.
So to me it is a balls up in general not to have realised we needed strengthening further during the summer. I believe that DF knew that we did but his hands were tied somewhat.
In short a balls up that nobody comes out of that well from. Owner, manager, and current players.

You'll try anything to not blame Freedman.
We have 3 points from 8 games. -10 goal difference.
It's feckin' rubbish.
If Coyle had started a season like that you would be playing the cancer card.

there's truth in that - i suspect we put a lot of eggs in the dawson basket - and then west brom smashed the basket and hid the pieces at the bottom of a big hole and covered it in concrete...BWFC_Insane wrote:People saying these are 'panic signings' well yes, yes they are. i also suspect that we have made more effort than some will allow for to bring in players - and have been knocked back...
maybe dougie simply doesn't have the pull - maybe other clubs don't see Bolton as a good nurturing ground for their talent - maybe players don't see us as an attractive proposition... my guess is that it is down to several factors...

I don't believe he was given the resources. Speculation but it is what I think.
And for WW I am hardly absolving Dougie of blame. Just stating that as a club leaving the very obviously necessary strengthening till now does not reflect well on anybody.
Re: PLYMOUTH'S stupendously all singing dancing transfer thr
i didn't say you were absolving dougie of blame!! don't you start!!
ahhh - oops - I read WW as FWIW!! doh!

I think that you give Freedman far to much credit....he's a wet behind the ears bloody novice learning his trade and doesn't know his arse from his elbow - who Gartside took another one of his 'he knows best' damaging gamble's on, its not Freedman's fault because he may become a decent boss in 4 -5 years time when he's eventually learned how to manage.BWFC_Insane wrote:People saying these are 'panic signings' well yes, yes they are. IMO he's been backed well by ED from day one....I know if it was my cash I wouldn't give him a another penny based on who's he signed to date, and especially not for a player who can't even get in Millwall's team.
How many more of his signings are going to warm the bench, if he brings these players in he should only be doing so because he feels that they will improve the starting team.
But's lets at least give them a chance....you never know, we are rock bottom so surely it can't get any worse ?
