What are you eating and drinking tonight?

If you have a life outside of BWFC, then this is the place to tell us all about your toilet habits, and those bizarre fetishes.......

Have some beef ribs so I've just lobbed them in the slow cooker with stock, chopped onion and mushrooms. If they're a disaster then it'll be a lightly battered cod with chips and curry sauce from over the way. :?

I discovered Rogan Josh on Monday. Before that it was just a name on a menu. I will be rediscovering it again tonight. :-)

I am, I'm happy to admit, something of a meat snob. I'd sooner push rusty screws in my eyes than buy supermarket meat. All mine comes from my local butcher and he knows where every animal came from, all of them within 5 miles of the shop.

It is then, with something of a red face, that I confess that I've just had some of the best meat I've ever eaten.................from a supermarket.

Gentlemen (and ladies) I implore you. If you do nothing else tomorrow, forget the lie in, ignore the papers, leave the 'special cuddles' for another day and get yourself to Aldi to pay £9.95 for their 4 bird roast. It didn't shrink, would easily feed 6 and the taste, oh the taste! Unbelievably good.
Uma mesa para um, faz favor. Obrigado.

I find eel to be incredibly greasy and not at all a taste I like bish. But I always encourage people to try for themselves, as its all so subjective. Give it a bash and come back and tell us what you think.

How did it go /

I did this a few weeks ago. Had all sorts of high hopes, as
a) rib beef is good
b) 'on the bone' slow cooking gives great flavour
c) if you do this with lamb or pork it's magnificent.

It WAS s disaster. We recovered it, but in the end it was just a stew.

Use Oxtail, far easier, far more certain.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

as I don't have time to cook for sunday dinner - have got into the habit of cooking summat big enough to do us for saturday night and then be warmed up for sunday too (so - just having to do the veg/side-salad/garlic bread or whatever will accompany it.)

lasagne this weekend..

nearly everything that i have tried appears to taste better on the sunday than it did on the saturday..

is it just my imagination - or is there summat cooky going on??

Well, I thought I'd managed to cut pretty much all of the fat off of the ribs prior to cooking - obviously not. Had a bowl full last night and, as expected/hoped for, the meat had fallen off of the bones during cooking but it still had a horrid fattiness about it . Having left the rest to cool and marinade overnight, this morning I found that about a half a cm of fat had risen to the top and solidified. I've spooned it all off, binned it and am currently re-heating the rest. Am seriously tempted to just bin it at this moment though.
May the bridges I burn light your way

I've only had it in seville - as a tapa, in sauce, Cazon en adobo. It's delicious.

A version of it here: http://www.winemag.com/Wine-Enthusiast- ... bo-Recipe/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; (Tho the author seems to think cazon is shark... )
