If it's more excitement you're after, how about twice a game they sound a klaxon which gives the players 30 seconds to run to and hide in a special bunker next to the dugout before they unleash a couple of hungry leopards onto the pitch.
or have naked women's football ?
Mmmmmm 22 pxssed off lesbians not passing to each other. Could be interesting.
And the winner of the golden gamble gets to join them in the shower after the game.

I say shower, but what I actually mean is the pitch side mud wrestling arena.
a golden shower if you like?

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

My previous post was, obviously (I hope), in jest.

The idea of one point for a win and nothing for either a draw or a loss does have appeal. Goal difference, as is the case at this point in time, to be used to sort those teams on equal points. It surely could be argued that not winning a contest, no matter how well fought the battle, hardly entitles either side to claim some sort of reward.

I am afraid that the use of penalties to to tip the points one way or the other has never appealed to me; nor the use of corner statistics for that matter (it was tried here some years ago, if I recall correctly, and then abandoned).

There is nothing wrong with extra time - apart from spectators missing transport connections - but artificial results, and I include the 'golden goal' , to me make a mockery of the game.

I don't have the time at the moment, but it'd be interesting to see how the current table(s) might look if they were converted to such a system. It (they) wouldn't be correct as it would not be possible to include the variation in tactics that would undoubtedly be introduced by managers if such a system was in place.
