I fancy us to win - for the manager's sake as well as ours. Scrappy 2-1, them to score first.

having watched our second string huff and puff and just about hang on to a 1-0 lead against Southampton.... my guess is a similarly depleted side will get utterly pasted by Burnley - who, let's face it, will be a squillion times more up for it than Southampton were - and (unlike southampton) will have a capacity seething mass of bile-spitting fans urging them on to do or die....

but then my glass is always half empty!

I so hope you're right..

this thread started with people reckoning they don't really care and we should send out the U14s and deliberately lose.....

I'd rather we went as full-strength as we can and make sure we beat the buggers... (it's only manU at the weekend ffs!)

Yep a game our Spanish contingent would love to play their way into at least at some point! If the reserves ain't up for this to be included Sunday then we should sell the feckin' lot of them!

So it's a sure bet that there will be no internet streams of this one? Will there be any way to hear/read play-by-play commentary online?

Why does everyone think that it revolved around the being "up for it". This will be a difficult game away at a team that will love it if they beat us. Its not an easy game. Playing players who have never played a senior club game before or have started 1 senior club game is a risk, not because they might not "fancy it" or be up for it, because we have no idea how they will react or cope with a game of this intensity. It might be too much for them. Bit like Fulham away (at QPR) was too much for Okocha. Wasn't through lack of being "up for it", just was too much too soon.

We'll see later on today.

Is Dan Smith injured?
Suspended, i think...after his horror tackle against Arsenal !

And nothing like a bit of casual racism either.

BRIAN Laws hasn’t needed to stock up on Irn Bru for Owen Coyle’s return to Turf Moor. There are still leftovers from the New Year.

“There are a couple of cans we need to get rid of because nobody likes it!” smiled the Burnley boss, who stepped in when the Scot took off in January.

“It’s an acquired taste.”

You're not Brian Laws
You're not Brian Laws
You're not Brian, You're not Brian, You're not Brian Laws.

Best not do this one on second thoughts. :)

Hmmm. Maybe they think Coyle is confused and thinks he's actually a failed second rate manager currently managing in the championship.

If so its good of them to point out his mistake to him.

'tis only in scotland that one side if an entire supermarket aisle would be dedicated to the various manifestations of IRN Brew, though.... and maybe it's true! Maybe Coyle left several cases behind....

Bless 'em, they think beating us in the cup will somehow vindicate their view that he made the wrong move.

Wonder who Burnley are playing at the weekend? Does anybody care?
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

Not sure. Are they in the FA Cup second qualifying round?

They're facing the self-obsessed disingenuous knobcheese David James.

With Nicky Hunt at his side? They've no chance.
