So either KA or DH never wanted him in the 1st place, we have enquired but can't afford the compensation or we've simply interviewed other candidates over the past few weeks and have now decided on another manager, and rumour has it that he's had his salary doubled by Southend to tempt him to commit to them for next season.

Whatever the truth though IMO he's made a bit of a cock of himself in the last few weeks, he's pissed the Southend fans off by refusing to rule himself out live on TV, and now he's probably annoyed a few Bolton fans by this announcement and has certainly harmed his chances of ever becoming Bolton manager.
Put it this way. He was 100% lined up for it by Deano. However, at that stage Anderson was an advisor and not directly involved in the bid or putting his own cash in. I would guess that Anderson either decided Brown wasn't who he wanted or that he was too expensive.

Either way they need to sort out the decision for me. We're drifting into dangerous territory where I can see us struggling to attract any manager in a job.

I don't agree. If I made noises about wanting to move and my boss doubled MY salary I'd snatch his bloody hand off. He'll probably get sacked midway through next season so may as well make his money now.

We'll get a manager. And guess what? Be reet.
Just like this season?

No.

Nah but they are usually out of work for a reason ;). Unless it was Mourinho, I'd certainly rather someone in work who's been doing a fairly decent job.

Sounds like we haven't even made an approach for Sheridan yet, hopefully DH and KA get on that immediately.

Personally I think he's the best candidate who hasn't completely ruled himself out yet.
Mourinho is out of work because he did really shit, I mean appallingly shit at the end of his previous appointment. He left Madrid underperforming.

Rodgers went to Swansea after being out of work and failing at Reading.
Dyche, sacked at Watford, seems to be doing ok at Burnley
Clough may take Burton up after being sacked by Derby.
Caldwell probably going to bring Wigan back up, despite never being a fisrt team manager previously

Is the point I'm making. I don't think "being currently employed" is much guidance whatsoever.

More Sheridan quotes. Still feels carefully inconclusive to me.

Sorry, I'm not saying that an out of work manager can't do good, but at the same time it is likely to be a greater risk, especially if they've been out of work for a prolonged period due to being crap at their previous job.

I think we need to try and mitigate the risks as much as possible with this appointment.

Lee Croft was very creative when they played Southend. He's about a stone overweight and f*cking useless in the tackle, but his endeavour for a chubby was impressive.

He did still have both feet that night mind.

I agree we need to try and mitigate the risks as much as possible - not convinced we do that by using "in work currently" as a key factor. It's going to be a gamble in any event. People would argue that Mourinho would be a good choice (as we did with Lennon), but it didn't work out with Lennon. Similarly people argued that Coyle would be a good choice, and he got us relegated too...I wasn't against either appointment.

Is it now 100% lined down now then?

(What is the opposite of lined up?)

Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

One fan shared a photo from today's match programme
https://twitter.com/joshjenbeth/status/ ... 3385948160" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

"What I will say is that our manager and incoming board is set and those individuals are already making plans for how we can move Bolton Wanderers back in the right direction."

Maybe an announcement on Monday then?

Hmm. I hope they are indeed set. But Anderson has already shown that the new owners like setting timescales then not exactly following them through.

I'm giving them a chance. But it is possibly safest to remain cautious and sceptical. Time will tell.

I wait the announcement next week then!

Whether you or I are sceptical, cautious or optimistic will have no effect on the outcome. Choose to be optimistic and be happy for a wee while, who knows, you might like it :D
