Yeah. We thought it was poor.
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

Had nine pieces of magnificent sushi and four of spicy beef here, along with a lovely Sancerre.

Then, when I got home, felt a bit peckish so had some Laughing Cow on toast.

Beautiful stuff. Buy good smoked haddock, not the dyed stuff, and meaty cod. I put sweetcorn in mine too - don't ask me why, but it works.thebish wrote: so - am gonna make Cullen Skink with oatcakes for the very first time. has anyone on here ever made this? tips?

Having worked in Cullen Bay some time ago, I can say without reservation that they are very bloody particular about their Cullan Skink. Don't f*ck about with it, just boil yer tatties in milk til they look like they're ready to mash and add flaked Finnan haddie. You are permitted to use salt and pepper, and maybe a garlic clove or two, and maybe an onion. Thats it.

Yes - that's the recipe I follow - no cod.Lord Kangana wrote:Having worked in Cullen Bay some time ago, I can say without reservation that they are very bloody particular about their Cullan Skink. I've been to Cullen too. The ice cream from the little parlour across from the pub is (was) lovely. Eating Ice Cream in April in Cullen is the coldest I have ever been. Ever.

It's beautiful there though.

If you go to the eponymous town on the shores of Lough Foyle there are other opportunities for Muff related fun. Such as:

I believe the smoked kippers are more pungent there than anywhere else

I see that it's the return of the Food Festival this weekend.
I'm glad that it does so well, apparently, for our moribund town centre.
Anyone going? I've been down in the past and found it to be just like a big farmers market, which means I tend to come away empty handed.

I didn't know my old mate Roger was now the CEO.Bruce Rioja wrote:Greggs Bakeries caption, ladies & gentlemen.
I was at Uni with him. Jeez, he was a bright sod. Southampton fan. He went on to become head of food for M&S before he was 30. Then joined Waitrose and later founded Ocado. He did rather well out of that.
Took over at Threshers to try the forlorn fight against supermarket wine selling and then the same with a pub/hotel chain. What on Earth, apart from I assume a huge amount of dosh, has persuaded him to try and turn Greggs around I don't know. He actually admits that there are aspects of their market in which they cannot succeed. Maybe he likes lost causes.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.
