The Monday Jury.

There ARE other teams(we'd have no-one to play otherwise) and here's where all-comers can discuss the wider world of football......

The Monday Jury.

Post by TANGODANCER » Sun Feb 10, 2008 1:14 pm

Would be nice (and make football completely fair) if all results were re-published correctly on Monday after an adjudicating panel had watched all the weekend stuf on video, seen the slowed-down replays and corrected all the officials Saturday/Sunday errors in keeping with the rules of football:

Delete all goals that were scored from offside positions and allow those that had been given offside but were not.

Remove all cards from fouls that were shown to be non-card offences and penalties that shouldn't have been given. Delete the goals scored from penalties that were wrongly given.

Card all offences were cards weren't given and should have been (including obvious dives) .

Adjust the results and league positions in accordance with the above.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Imagine the uproar if a panel up-ended a top four result in favour of the opposition. T'would be mayhem, but it would be fair. Pipe dream I know, but just imagine....

It does have some problems too Tango. What do you do about a red card, say given early in the game, that shouldn't have been and the side with ten men goes on to lose? Replay the fixture??

I think in that situation the panel would have to award Bolton three points. Particularly if they weren't even playing in the game.

They have a table like this in Zoo/Nuts (can;t remember which) and we have a few more points, not much difference.

And let's not forget that the laws of football state "if in the opinion of the referee/officials....." and that's why the game is the way it is. And the russian linesman has never been proved 100% right or wrong 42 years on, so who'sto say every decision would be correct even after this panel????

Fat Lad Rooney would get 38 yellow cards for dissent if this ever happened
