As opposed to this right from the start of Owen's tenure

I nearly spat my tea out when I read a comment below it saying in the next few years Coyle could be at Everton and Moyes could be at United. Can't wait to see the face on a bloke at work who supports Everton, he absolutely hates Moyes has no time for him whatsoever. Ungrateful sod what does he want, Howard Kendall to come back?!

Can someone who is subscribed reply to the balloon at the bottom who wrote "what would they do without Jaaskelainen?".
Perhaps we'd play Wigan's first choice keeper instead. Or our third choice keeper who's already played a few games this year.
Does anyone in the world of football actually know anything about our team?

You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

Re: Latest Phil McNulty Blog
Could Phil McNulty's job be any easier? He essentially just says what's happening.
"Bolton are doing well", "Owen Coyle is a good manager"
Thanks, Phil. That's exactly the kind of insight I want to read from the BBC's chief football writer.

I've never seen anything approaching insight in McNulty's blog.

Come now, Lord, you know as well as I that to go round correcting idiots is more than a full-time job.Lord Kangana wrote:Can someone who is subscribed reply to the balloon at the bottom who wrote "what would they do without Jaaskelainen?".

In other news, I note that either the writer has omitted an attribution or Hansen is passing off Bob Paisley's remark about long/short/right balls as his own.

To HP & The Pope: The BBC generally does straight sports news excellently, but it can go months without an interesting opinion. McNulty's far from the most asinine 'writer' on the roster, but there are literally dozens of places I would go first for a decent read.

Re: Latest Phil McNulty Blog
Why does he say both times Coyle went 31 miles from Burnley to Bolton? Which way did he go?
Or has something changed since I left the country?

Re: Latest Phil McNulty Blog
I find Tim Vickery's blog to be a good read but that may just be because I don't follow South American football closely. To a regular follower of the continent he may seem as banal as McNulty seems to us.
Re: Latest Phil McNulty Blog
Tim Vickery is really good, he actually gives his opinion. However, his stuff doesn't seem to appear on the BBC site all that much these days.

Having said that, I can see it's there for this week. Perhaps I've not been looking hard enough. The Pope wrote:Tim Vickery is really good, he actually gives his opinion. However, his stuff doesn't seem to appear on the BBC site all that much these days.

Re: Latest Phil McNulty Blog
I more dismayed at the amount of times he says Coyle will go on to manager a 'bigger' club then mentions Everton.

He does the World Football phone-in on 5Live at about 2.30am Saturday morning most weeks. I think there are podcasts on the BBC website. Seems very knowledgeable and talks about some of the mechanics of the game, the stuff a lot of the mass media skips over. The Pope wrote:Having said that, I can see it's there for this week.
