FA Cup 3rd Round

Post by YorkCityFC » Wed Dec 01, 2010 1:17 pm

Afternoon Trotters, York fan in peace. Got a few questions in relation to the 3rd round game at the Reebok that you might be able to helpe with.

1) Are there any decent boozers in and about your ground? Will probably be getting the train via Bolton to Horwich, so where is best for the a pre-match expectation booster?!

2) What is the stewarding like for away fans? Is it heavy handed or fairly lax?

The general view from York is that this is a good draw. Personally, I would love to get a score draw at your place and earn a replay. Seeing a Premiership team at Bootham Cresent on an evening would be fairly special for a (currently) non-league team.

We took 4.5k to Stoke last season so, weather permitting and Bolton being a much easier journey, I would hope we take 5-6k to your place this time.

The Beehive is away-fan friendly. About ten mins walk from the away end on Chorley New Road.

The stewarding is heavy handed.

If you bring six thousand you'll outnumber us!

Enjoy.

Go to Horwich Parkway, not Horwich. Walk past the stadium up Burnden Way 'til you get to the junction with Chorley New Road. You'll see the Beehive opposite.

Definitely the Beehive for you. Not a decent boozer but away friendly. They turn Home fans away. :conf:

Thanks for the information. It looks like it's the Beehive before the game then!

The fact your stewards are heavy handed could prove interesting. The less harmless element of Yorks support will relish this and give them the excuse they need to misbehave. Whilst it will also make it more difficult for the flag waving, smoke bomb popping, flare holding element of Yorks support to put on the type of show that has started to be associated with York over the past few seasons. Still, we'll hopefully put on a good show both on and off the pitch.

As for Bolton being easier to get to than Stoke: 118 miles to Stoke, 75 miles to bolton from York. With Bolton just being off the M62 by car/coach, and a short hop on a train from Manchester Piccadilly, this will make it far easier for us. Also, it took 5 hours to get to Stoke last year due to adverse weather conditions.

It's in January so you had better set off early.
