Our recent conceded goals...
I was thinking about this earlier and seen it discussed on a couple of threads, how we've conceded goals from an initial save by Bogdan.
In my opinion, it's a bit of both. From what I've seen against Norwich and Wigan, Bogdan has made some decent saves but thought he could have done a bit more to try and parry it away from their strikers. Then again, I still place most of the blame on our outfield players/defenders, especially against Wigan yesterday, their players were fecking queueing up to put the ball in the net. Bogdan has done a semi-decent job in stopping the ball going in but our outfield players have certainly not helped him out at all.
So who is at fault for you?

Re: Our recent conceded goals...
My apologies I've had a long weekend, if it's not clear, I mean that recently we've conceded a lot where Bogdan has made a save from a shot and they've hit it in on the rebound. Who seems to be at fault, the goalkeeper or the outfield players? Surely it shouldn't be happening as much as it does.Lord Kangana wrote:Sorry, red rag to a bull![]()

There do appear to be an increasing number that bounce out into our 6 yard box when Boggers is keeping...

Re: Our recent conceded goals...
Price we pay for a keeper learning his trade I s'pose. It is a high price, and if we had a few more players with a bit more get up and go to get up and go get the 2nd ball, then it might save his blushes.
4 is obviously the answer, but at a push I'd also tick 3. They're a team, the experienced members of our back four need to be affording more protection to an inexperienced keeper.

Yes, I'd agree with the more protection bit too. That never hurts, even with an experienced keeper, who may still occasionally spill one..
Re: Our recent conceded goals...
A bit 50/50 for me, I've thought that Bogdan could have done better for some of them, but the defence should have been there to cover on others.

There was no Owen Coyle option so I used it as a chance to have another pop at old ginger bollocks

I dont think Bogdan could have done much more with the second on saturday.Too hard and close range to catch and the rest is geometry. He's probably on a par with Jussi right now.

I have no reason to blame Bogdan. He is doing fine.

Would we have conceded less with Jussi in net?

Re: Our recent conceded goals...
The loose ball is there to be won. If the other team's attackers respond quicker than our defenders, how can the keeper be to blame?

I haven't seen a replay, quite deliberately.Bruce Rioja wrote:The loose ball is there to be won. If the other team's attackers respond quicker than our defenders, how can the keeper be to blame?
But at the time I thought Bogdan could have pushed it wider, rather than straight back into the middle of the box?
Re: Our recent conceded goals...
I agree with BWFCi - if we'd played 4-5-1, then Bogdan would have been able to push it wider - but it's impossible playing 4-4-2BWFC_Insane wrote:I haven't seen a replay, quite deliberately.Bruce Rioja wrote:The loose ball is there to be won. Re: Our recent conceded goals...
It was a good save for their second one but, as pointed out on MOTD, Mavies allowed McArthur to mince into the box unchallenged. It wasn't like he dropped the ball at his feet.
What a hero, What a man...... Ooooh, what a bad foul...
Re: Our recent conceded goals...
Tbf i think in a one-on-one situation such as that just keeping it out of t'net is a good effort. Didn't have much time to change direction for the save never mind direct it.BWFC_Insane wrote:I haven't seen a replay, quite deliberately.Bruce Rioja wrote:The loose ball is there to be won. In my view, of course.

Re: Our recent conceded goals...
They were lining up to tap the rebound in, Bogdan can't have time to be worrying about avoiding parrying it into three fecking places where defenders arent covering, he can only do his job and his percentage.

Re: Our recent conceded goals...
The ball was right into Bogdan's body, he got down low and stopped the shot. Had it been a foot to his left, he WOULD've parried it away. at is goes, it just hit it. No blame attached to the 'keeper at all for me
