Club's Debt Restructured

However, does seem like there are things going on behind the scenes perhaps to gear the club up to a point it could be sold?
On the face of it seems a bit pointless seeing as if he said "I'd like my 100M back now please and you've got a year......" he'd not be seeing it anyway.Gartside said: “This is not new to us — we’ve been providing education on the site now for over two years with the Bolton Wanderers education programme.” Mr Gartside was tight-lipped about where the £100 million investment would come from, but said the club planned to access various “sporting grants” and had not ruled out looking for more investment from its current owner, Eddie Davies, or looking further afield.
He also revealed the club’s debt had been converted from short term loans into “long-term” debt. The move means that, in theory, Mr Davies, who would previously have had to give the club one year’s notice to recall the £120 million it owes him, could now have to give a decade’s notice.

I'm guessing it won't be exclusively to the clubs benefit.
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

In that article Gartside says we aren't paying any interest on the "loan" from Eddie, he said as much at the fans forum.Lord Kangana wrote:I'm guessing it won't be exclusively to the clubs benefit.
The only way he can get his money back, if ultimately that is what he wants, and Gartside suggested at the forum that it wasn't, but anyhow is presumably selling the club. I don't see how he can get back anywhere near his investment though, even with the new proposed developments.
Hmmm.

Re: Club's Debt Restructured
Part of me thought the parent company was asset building to re-float on the stock market, but I don't think that's viable for a football club, especially one turning a loss year on year..
It does seem that it's being geared towards a sale, but with the £120m already invested and a further £100m being sought for this programme, I can't see Eddie Davies getting anywhere near half of what he's 'owed' back from any potential buyer.

Same here, though where the 100M will come from is somewhat unclear. It could be that the bulk is being sought through grants.boltonboris wrote:Part of me thought the parent company was asset building to re-float on the stock market, but I don't think that's viable for a football club, especially one turning a loss year on year..

And its feasible that the "new assets" could add considerable value. Together with the ground, hotel and presumably the land. Perhaps there is a way after all........

Can a private company get the state to build assets that it then makes money on? Hardly seems fair...

Ken Bates is doing something similiar at Leeds. Sorry, not Ken Bates, but a company which he may or may not own.
