Next Manager Poll
I’ve limited options to managers who are immediately available and have relevant experience and/or a connection to the club.
Other suggestions are most welcome.

Re: Next Manager Poll
Different options down the list for sure and not directly comparable. Top 5 for me though all have relevant experience. Hard to look past folk who have managed in the league above and built promotion winning teams from this league or actually won promotion themselves.
Re: Next Manager Poll
Not overly fussed if a manager has a connection to the club or not. I'd not like someone who has issues with the club or fanbase (looking at you Megson).
Ideally I want someone who plays quite similar to Evatt, but doesn't allow us to get put under pressure by playing out of the back as much as Evatt insists. Someone with a bit of nous about them.

Re: Next Manager Poll
I voted Schumacher, but did mention post Huddersfield that there have been very few recent appointments even mentioned at this point. Dougie and Coyle maybe?

We could have a bit of Indie landfill Wombats pre-game if it was Schumacher, which I'd be on board with.

Re: Next Manager Poll
That reminds me of the time Iles wrote an article insisting our new manager would either be Nigel Adkins or Steve Cotterill hours before Parky was announced.

I also think if we are shortly to find ourselves in the position of looking for a new manager - and I doubt we will - it won't be anyone in the poll.

….because it will be a leftfield announcement like Mousinho or Buckingham? It can’t be because they’re all out of our league - I’m damn sure Leam Richardson for one would answer the phone…nicholaldo wrote: ↑Sun Nov 10, 2024 9:23 pmI also think if we are shortly to find ourselves in the position of looking for a new manager - and I doubt we will - it won't be anyone in the poll.

You know what I mean though. An unknown coach - it's worked before.
To my other point, maybe not everyone on that list would want the job but Richardson absolutely bombed at Rotherham, he'd be happy to at least talk to us. Beale had a horrific time at Sunderland. Lee Johnson last seen spending six troubled months at Fleetwood. Sam Ricketts was drummed out of Shrewsbury second bottom of this league...

Re: Next Manager Poll
Left field announcements remind me of 1992 when we were looking for Phil Neal's replacement. The leading contenders were ex Rovers boss Don McKay and ex Brum gaffer & world cup winner, Terry Cooper. Pre social media obvs but there had been no mention in the press or amongst fans of the guy who did get the gig. What we'd do for another Bruce Rioch to rock up.

I doubt there were many initially thinking of Evatt when he got the gig...

He's mentioned in the second post of the previous "who be the next manager" thread, although that is from mid-June and Nicko says other threads had hosted chatter.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Mon Nov 11, 2024 12:01 pmI doubt there were many initially thinking of Evatt when he got the gig...

Re: Next Manager Poll
There was a bit of a lead up to his appointment when compensation was being discussed and some Barrow fans refused to believe he'd leave them for us.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Mon Nov 11, 2024 12:01 pmI doubt there were many initially thinking of Evatt when he got the gig...
When Phil Neal was appointed, the other leading applicant at the time was Peter Lorimer. His 'record' afterwards doesn't suggest we missed out.

For sure mate, a whisper gets out. Just that I doubt he'd have made too many polls, the day we jettisoned the previous seat warmer.Harry Genshaw wrote: ↑Mon Nov 11, 2024 12:34 pmThere was a bit of a lead up to his appointment when compensation was being discussed and some Barrow fans refused to believe he'd leave them for us.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Mon Nov 11, 2024 12:01 pmI doubt there were many initially thinking of Evatt when he got the gig...

Ainsworth has gone to Shrewsbury. Nobody to be disappointed according to the poll.
