I like Clough, he's a great talent - But I do think we look a little inbalanced when he plays and we've looked more organised and 'fluid' whilst he's been on the sidelinesBWFC_Insane wrote:Spearing, Trotter, Pratley. Then Silva and Feeney wide of a striker. Clough can come on for one of the widemen if needed later in the game.
And for your Spearing, Trotter, Pratley, I'll raise you; Spearing, Davies, Trotter

Pratley will make it tighter away from home. And also is more likely to bag a goal. That was my reasoning.boltonboris wrote:I like Clough, he's a great talent - But I do think we look a little inbalanced when he plays and we've looked more organised and 'fluid' whilst he's been on the sidelinesBWFC_Insane wrote:Spearing, Trotter, Pratley. ^ Mark Davies does seem to operate better in the middle of mid-field where he can have a run at goal occasionally (always assuming we're attacking of course) . If we're under a lot of fire probably Spearing, Pratley, Trotter. I get the feeling Lennon doesn't like too many getting forward and advenurous a lot of the time.

Given my previous comments about Mavies and his ability to control a game (or be completely invisible), and notwithstanding Trotter's recent rennacea, rennaisan, improvement, a midfield three of Trotter, Spearing and Pratley still strikes me as too static, maybe marginally better at trying to get a 0-0 draw than one with Mavies in it, but then would struggle once we conceded the inevitable goal.

Yeah, I think we need some sort of outlet. As anonymous as he can be, he's better with the ball going forward than most of the rest of our midfield. Therefore, for me, you should start Spearing, Trotter, Davies. But then Pratley is captain, and lets be honest, very rarely do they get dropped.Worthy4England wrote:Given my previous comments about Mavies and his ability to control a game (or be completely invisible), and notwithstanding Trotter's recentrennacea, rennaisan, improvement, a midfield three of Trotter, Spearing and Pratley still strikes me as too static, maybe marginally better at trying to get a 0-0 draw than one with Mavies in it, but then would struggle once we conceded the inevitable goal.
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.

He goes missing for most games and isn't contributing much when he does show up.
Although Pratley is a bit crap, at least him and Spearing (and Danns for that matter) have managed to put the ball in the net.
Please don't anyone start with Davies' pass completion b*llocks, every player would have a great rate if they just constantly went backwards and played wall passes.
What a hero, What a man...... Ooooh, what a bad foul...
Re: Albion the away end, will you? Brighton (A) 13/02/16
Well it's obvious what people see in him, great to watch when he's at his best. Only he and Clough are in that entertainment bracket.Andy Waller wrote:What do people see at all in Davies?Lord Kangana wrote:Yeah, I think we need some sort of outlet. I agree with you however about him going missing. He frustrates the life out of me because his best is seen so rarely. I think with him absence has made the heart fonder and during his injuries this myth has sprung up that he'd come back and change our season, like a new signing etc. I'll not miss him when we finally get rid.

I quite liked that backwards pass Davies made to set up Spearing for the first goal against Rotherham, and the forward run into the penalty area that created the second goal against Rotherham. We'll just have to agree to disagree, Andy.
Anyway Lennon's just said in the presser that Trotter is injured, so that makes his choice easier.

Who'd've thought Trotter being injured would come as such a blow? Hamstring, so maybe out for a few.
Heading down from London for this one. I've not got a bad record this season, considering how bad we've been (two draws and a loss - Leeds (H), Charlton (A), Huddersfield (A)).
Not expecting much from this one though. A point to keep up recent momentum would be excellent.

Yeah, heart says we might have a chance of a surprise win, but head says I'd settle for a draw.Lennon'sEleven wrote:A point to keep up recent momentum would be excellent.
Lennon's presser, per @OfficialBWFC:
(He also spoke at length about Phil Gartside, which I'll put in the relevant thread.)Brighton is a very difficult match. They've had a fantastic season and they look like they're back to their best. It's going to be tough, but all the games from hereon in are going to be tough. We're going to enjoy the challenge.
The players were great at Wolves, and grinding out a result against Rotherham will hopefully have given them a boost.
Jay [Spearing] was lacking confidence for a while but he seems to have rediscovered his form. He has been excellent in the last two games.
Liam Trotter is out. He has a hamstring injury. It's a shame as he has been in good form, but Zach Clough should be back. Neil Danns is fit now as well but we're waiting to see if Gary Madine will be fit over the next few days.
Kaiyne Woolery still has a lot of work to do. We know he's raw. He has tremendous pace and an eye for goal. To see him score the winner was brilliant for his confidence and he's taken his opportunities well.
Dean Moxey had a dead leg but we hope he'll be back training today. Losing Liam Trotter is a big blow as he's been doing well.

They have a pretty good defence and haven't generally let a lot of goals in. Against our strike-force (unless maybe Clough plays), I could easily see us being nil....which means our defence - ranked 23rd on away form - will need to do something special. Just to get a point. I'd take a point now.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:Yeah, heart says we might have a chance of a surprise win, but head says I'd settle for a draw.Lennon'sEleven wrote:A point to keep up recent momentum would be excellent.

Yeah, all true. Guess I was thinking they'd been in shocking form for over a month, and even before that they were winning games by one goal rather than waltzing to victory. I expect us to lose, but I think we could draw and I hope we win. Ha!Worthy4England wrote:They have a pretty good defence and haven't generally let a lot of goals in. Aye - think it could be close. They've not been winning by many - odd goal specialists. Their poor form this month (well since the turn of the year) has been W3 L2 in the league. How I wish for a bit of poor form. We've had W2 D1 L3 over the same period. We've actually played three more games than them since the turn of the year.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:Yeah, all true. Hope the general despondent feeling that must be around the Macron right now, due to the demise of our chairman, doesn't have a negative effect on the players. Indeed, a win could well be seen as a final tribute to Phil Gartside. Hope Neil Lennon is thinking along those lines.

let's hope not! we've tried the "let's win this for ___________" (whoever the recently deceased ex-player might be) - and it usually doesn't turn out well!

Only seems to work in the event of a player nearly dying. Like when we beat Blackburn 2-0 after Muamba collapsed.thebish wrote:TANGODANCER wrote:Hope the general despondent feeling that must be around the Macron right now, due to the demise of our chairman, doesn't have a negative effect on the players. Great gesture to get the fans to partake in a minute's applause. Not a very good idea to do it in the 63rd minute of the Brighton game. This could well distract players and break concentration. Do it pre game instead.

it should't be in the 63rd minute - I agree.
it should be a full 63minutes applause - are they serious about this or what??

I've been to the Brighton game for the past three seasons, but I'm away for this one. Away win, therefore, nailed on.
