Re: Reconstruction time again: the summer 2018 transfer thread
Hmm....apparently Wildschut's deal expires next summer. Seems they paid 7mil and only got him to sign a 2.5 year deal. So if we loaned him he'd be on a free next season. That changes a lot. Might even mean any deal isn't a loan.

Emojis are out, so I think we can safely assume Wildschut is done. Announced at 4.30 apparently.

Suspect that will be the lot till middle of next week. Looking at the trialists again Saturday apparently.

They seem to be underwhelmed with Hobbs, Cotterill and Walker. Hoping for better or just not impressed?BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Thu Jul 19, 2018 4:09 pmOne!GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Thu Jul 19, 2018 4:05 pmShall see if it's just one deal done or two.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Thu Jul 19, 2018 3:58 pmEmojis are out, so I think we can safely assume Wildschut is done. Hobbs in particular was damned with faint praise. Although if we get Wildchild Ghost thinks we can sit deeper and counterattack.
Cotterill not needed or wanted (ta Ghost) if we get Wildschut and Walker they're probably hoping to cheapskate on the contract by leaving it late.
What could've happened; did.

There's a clause in the deal that the loan can be cancelled in January.

YW: “It feels great to be here. I spoke to the manager this morning and he gave me a good feeling - he made me want to sign for Bolton Wanderers with what he said to me. I have been in England now for four years and I think I know how the league works. Hopefully I can help the club to have a very good season in 2018/19."

That's about as good a signing as we could have hoped for. Has all the attributes, but needs to be driven to become more consistent.
IF we can also get Wyke then I'll be a happy bunny.

Must admit I know little of him. Just shy of 6ft2in so that won't hurt. Right wing or left? Right foot or left?

Re: Reconstruction time again: the summer 2018 transfer thread
what with being a bit busy just now I didn't know we'd signed anybody, yet Isles is saying that this Dutch fella's our fifth signing.
Can someone do me a favour and point me in the direction of who we've signed and what it is that they do please?
Very much obliged.

Pleased with that. Inconsistent but lots of ability. Good age, too.
I jinxed it on purpose..
There's no way at all, we're signing anybody else though

Either and either. Was at his best in Holland and for Wigan on the left. Most dribbles in the league over a season a couple of times in his career. Not a great crosser of the ball and lacks composure, but is fast as hell and very strong. Genuinely two footed.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Thu Jul 19, 2018 4:45 pmMust admit I know little of him. If we get Wyke as well as Yanic we could be a comfortable mid table side this seasonGhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Thu Jul 19, 2018 4:42 pmThat's about as good a signing as we could have hoped for. Has all the attributes, but needs to be driven to become more consistent.

Time for folk to get off KA's back....every signing made so far is better quality than those we released

Pawel Olkowski - Poland international right back who has been playing in the German top division. Very attacking and fairly quick.Bruce Rioja wrote: ↑Thu Jul 19, 2018 4:46 pmwhat with being a bit busy just now I didn't know we'd signed anybody, yet Isles is saying that this Dutch fella's our fifth signing.

Jason Lowe - Former Blackburn captain. Midfield destroyer.
Erhun Oztumer - 5'3" Walsall playmaker. Made the League One team of the year last season, having scored for fun from midfield.
Clayton Donaldson - 34, I think. Former Birmingham striker with a 1 in 3 rate. Signed as back up, we assume.
Yanic Wildschut - Big, fast and dribbly winger who Norwich paid 7mil for 18 months ago.
Then we got 3 youth team players who are seen as having a chance.

Pleased with that - we look like we have decent options out wide, and a striker for me sees the attacking unit sorted.
Centre half and centre md please.
Hoping Turner gets a run as second choice keeper - but appreciate thats a gamble on Alnwicks fitness.

Havent seen him play before so went to Youtube
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uR5Ig3VTiDQ
Looks like a talent. Plays on the left, hits it with both feet, loves to attack defenders. With Ameobi on the other wing, defenders are not going to look forward to playing against us, especially if we get a strong pacy # 9.

Re: Reconstruction time again: the summer 2018 transfer thread
I like that we seem to be adding pace everywhere, even if it's just a bit. Olkowski and Wildschut are genuinely quick players for their positions. Lowe and Ozzy, whilst not fast, are quicker than the players they have replaced.
Ideally that continues and we add some pace to left back and centre half.
Lack of pace has been a major issue in the side and even if we just improve that a bit it'll be worth it.
