Re: Administration and recovery
The EFL will not sanction change of control unless all football creditors are paid in full....I’m fairly sure they wouldn’t accept staggered payments regardless.nicholaldo wrote: ↑Thu Jul 18, 2019 8:01 pmI can't envisage the hotel turning a profit without the business the football club generates for it (but obviously, I don't know that). And the players would face a huge amount of opprobrium if their demand for immediate payment of outstanding wages in full sent the club under.
No doubt, we're in for more brinkmanship between now and the beginning of the season, but if these are the two remaining obstacles, then surely, when push comes to shove, the only realistic resolution is FV's proposal?

Re: Administration and recovery
It's not a realistic resolution. They've got two million pounds in cash at most. The players' wages are peanuts in the deal. The hotel is part of the circularity causing the hole in the finances of the plan. The plan envisages the stadium being sold and rented back. It's not going to happen if the hotel isn't part of it.nicholaldo wrote: ↑Thu Jul 18, 2019 8:01 pmI can't envisage the hotel turning a profit without the business the football club generates for it (but obviously, I don't know that). Even if it happens, it's on such a shoestring that it will make Ken look like a munificent benefactor... But it won't happen, because they haven't got the dosh.
That's not a leopard!

I'm not arguing they would sanction a change of control without paying football creditors in full.

Fair enough. In that case, my panic-fanny-o-meter reading has, once again, risen a notch.

Well, I say that but it's not really. I'm actually feeling resigned about it all now. What will be, will be.

Re: Administration and recovery
I should imagine that a Heavenly conversation between Eddie Davies, Bill Ridding, Phil Gartside and our Nat would be one of immense interest right about now. Pints of Magee Marshall best mild, hot pasties (and maybe a Woodbine or two for effect) and a "reet lads, now wtf has happened down there?"......oh, and a few tears maybe....and a Tina Turner record playing in the background.." What's football got to do, got to do with it?"

Me three. I just wish they'd get on with it now because we're dying by a thousand cuts.Harry Genshaw wrote: ↑Thu Jul 18, 2019 9:35 pmAbout where I am. So on a scale of one to five I have you on about an eight?

Nah, I'm using decimal places.
Re: Administration and recovery
Is this panic fanny scale exponential?
Must admit my usual "it'll be reet" view is starting to waver.

It also depends what your view of ‘reet’ is. For me at the moment the best case probable scenario is us getting a takeover done eventually and having a bloody hard battle staying up. We can forget about building any sort of team. What that does for future finances god only knows, and we may be back in the same position in another 12 months.

Re: Administration and recovery
Gordon Taylor’s wound me right up. It’s the demands of his fckin members (and their agents) that are partly responsible for the whole mess football outside the prem is in! All he gives a shit about is losing 1/92 of his organisations income next season. How about pitching up with a solution dickhead! Or keep ya trap shut!
BWFCST at it again as well. Pestering the admin team when they have nothing of value (high net worth individuals anyone?) to add. I know the model worked for others but our guys don’t have a pot to piss in, and just specialise in rubbing everyone up the wrong way. Stick to yer meetings fuelled by werthers, dinosaurs!

Re: Administration and recovery
I still believe that the hotel is not much use to anyone without the club or at least co-operation with the club. If the club folds then it is likely someone will buy the land with the intention of redevelopment. You are then looking at a hotel in a housing estate (in reality no hotel since its part of the fabric of the ground) or shopping estate. Yes there are planning issues but in liquidation the land will be cheap enough for someone to take a risk.
Secondly - the hotel relies on the club with a chunk of its income. Teams stay there, the club uses it a lot and pays for the privilege (or did until KA stopped paying anyone) and of course the pitch view rooms add to income.
Having said that it seems that some are trying to buy the club via the hotel so perhaps to them it matters not that much. But surely now its too late for anyone to complete a deal for the club. As it stands I suspect its fairly likely we wouldn't be allowed to start the season.
I'd have thought also that the chains trying to buy the hotel could quite easily do a deal with FV - they certainly won't buy the hotel should the club go.
So for me there has to be a deal to be done here somehow. But the clock is ever ticking and in reality time is just about up.

Re: Administration and recovery
Gordon Taylor saying "they're not football people" was the bit that irritated me. They aren't. But what does it matter? In a year if they're clueless and pissing around and haven't appointed a suitable football expert then sure. But now what matters is their business acumen.officer_dibble wrote: ↑Fri Jul 19, 2019 9:17 amGordon Taylor’s wound me right up. Re: Administration and recovery
Oh absolutely. "Reet" to me means nothing more than a few seasons of "football on the back pages again". Club existing, stable ownership, do our best within our means will do me.jimbo wrote: ↑Fri Jul 19, 2019 9:09 amIt also depends what your view of ‘reet’ is.
