Chris Eagles - why not pick any random out of contract player? 36 and frankly I didn’t rate him first time round.Mar wrote: ↑Fri Nov 26, 2021 9:57 amThats a great way of showing the injury list.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Thu Nov 25, 2021 5:23 pmI'm running out of red here. Gilks, Dixon, Gordon, Aimson, Santos, Johnston, Amaechi, Lee, Thomason, Dapo, Delf, Doyle, Kachunga (Pettifer, Henry)
We're making up quite a team on the injury table:
Isgrove, Jones, Brockbank, Baptiste, MJW, Sheehan, Tutte, Bakayoko
Can we sign Chris Eagles on a two month contract? Surely he'd be able to do a job of 30 mins here or there for cover.
Re: Dem Bones, Dem Bones, Dem Bare Bones....
Very much doubt he's anywhere near fit enough or in the right frame of mind. Better to promote some youngsters for the few games until Jan I think.Mar wrote: ↑Fri Nov 26, 2021 9:57 amThats a great way of showing the injury list.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Thu Nov 25, 2021 5:23 pmI'm running out of red here. I see evatt said that 3 stone ago he'd have considered registering himself. He did fill out that 10 shirt in a way that made sarcevic look like Twiggy.

Haha Evatt has really piled it on since he started here! Sam Hird seemed like a sensible shout but it’s a shame he isn’t a midfielder - i think all the youngsters are too young other than the ones on the bench already.

It's an area that badly needs investment. Picking up lads at 16-20 for development is something we will have to begin doing at some stage (not in January). Non-League, the Irish leagues and Scottish lower divisions are places where other clubs get joy and we will have to start operating with a proper U23s set up at some stage. This is a group of coaches who back themselves to radically improve players, so we'll need them to show it.officer_dibble wrote: ↑Fri Nov 26, 2021 1:33 pmi think all the youngsters are too young other than the ones on the bench already.
Maybe get a full first team squad at the same time.
Re: Dem Bones, Dem Bones, Dem Bare Bones....
The picture one of the radio stations use of him, I think just after he signed, is particularly cruel he looks like half an Evatt in it.GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Fri Nov 26, 2021 1:27 pmLockdown has done very few of us any favours in that regard.LeverEnd wrote: ↑Fri Nov 26, 2021 1:15 pmVery much doubt he's anywhere near fit enough or in the right frame of mind. I was, TBH, somewhat disappointed we didn't pick up any last/this summer. I guess we didn't quite know what the setup was but it still seemed an oversight.GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Fri Nov 26, 2021 1:38 pmIt's an area that badly needs investment. So was I; but I was more surprised that we didn't sign another right back, mid and striker.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Fri Nov 26, 2021 2:19 pmI was, TBH, somewhat disappointed we didn't pick up any last/this summer. I guess we didn't quite know what the setup was but it still seemed an oversight.
I put it down to investment and not having set up the right as you said.

For a start Eagles has played for us before, so he know the club, the fans and a few of the players (Baptiste for example) so the settling in period will be less. We've got a reasonable idea of what he's capable of and the type of player he is. He wouldn't be expecting to start and would prove reasonable cover during our injury crisis. I suspect he would be relatively cost effective to where the majority of his fee is per appearance and a base line amount so won't be breaking the bank.
The point about not rating him the first time around, I was in the same position with Baptiste but he's been able to come back and do a job. My problem with Eagles is that he shoots too often, i'd like to think that Evatt would be able to address that.

There are much better free agents out there and Eagles doesn’t fix many if any of our problems. His last club was hapless Port Vale wasn’t it? And he didn’t do anything for them.Mar wrote: ↑Sat Nov 27, 2021 3:44 pmBWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Fri Nov 26, 2021 1:02 pmChris Eagles - why not pick any random out of contract player? 36 and frankly I didn’t rate him first time round.Mar wrote: ↑Fri Nov 26, 2021 9:57 amThats a great way of showing the injury list.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Thu Nov 25, 2021 5:23 pmI'm running out of red here. Hard pass for me. I don’t think he and Baptiste are similar in what they bring either.

Evatt post game said that MJ is more like 'three weeks than three months' which is grand news.

While MJ's return from the ol' rona seems imminent, it appears that Kieran Lee hasn't been so lucky and could be several weeks away

Not good, but fairly sure there's some sort of plan to add to MF...MF with legs and zero content probably better than MF with full content and no legs.KeyserSoze wrote: ↑Sun Jan 02, 2022 1:40 pmWhile MJ's return from the ol' rona seems imminent, it appears that Kieran Lee hasn't been so lucky and could be several weeks away

There was some chatter that the same was true of Jones. Back fit, but not recovered from the plague. We have clearly angered the gods. Did one of the ground staff kill a raven or something?KeyserSoze wrote: ↑Sun Jan 02, 2022 1:40 pmWhile MJ's return from the ol' rona seems imminent, it appears that Kieran Lee hasn't been so lucky and could be several weeks away

Kachunga out for 8-12 weeks. Basically another body that needs replacing. Deep joy.
