The Devil's Gallop. Away to Doncaster Rovers, Friday 15th April 3-o'clock.
The Devils Gallop : was the theme tune for the old radio Dick Barton series; music very fitting for a race to the post with mainly pride at stake. Give it a listen here as The Super Whites thunder round the Eco Power stadium on Good Friday, then air your views as to our chances. Are we odds-on or also rans. Tapes up and we're running.

I think if we're serious around "our form is near top 6 since Jan" then we really need to be winning 3 out of the 4 games left. We really need to start with this one. They've lost 12 of 21 at home this year, so we need to make it 13.
Not that it involves us particularly, but Pompey stuffed Rotherham last night 3-0. Wheels might be coming off Rotherham.

Genuinely intrigued, if they fail, to see what happens next. Stick or twist with Warne? How powerful would they be next season?Worthy4England wrote: ↑Wed Apr 13, 2022 11:24 amNot that it involves us particularly, but Pompey stuffed Rotherham last night 3-0. Wheels might be coming off Rotherham.

It's been a very interesting run in and I think we really should still be in touching distance of at least Oxford, but we're not and we now have to show that that great run wasn't a fluke. We've not been dreadful like we were in that winter period - the trouble is we clearly have a key players not showing up. Whatever the reasons and however valid they are, we lack the depth to allow for that.
Rotherham seem to have hit on a similar issue, though as I understand it a lot of their success was build on key partnerships - which is something we are still developing. If that's correct, then even small squad changes for next season could mean they take time to gain traction.
Never a dull season at this level.

They've been steadily chipping away at blowing it since the beginning of March, which, on the back of an excellent February is all the more bewildering.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Wed Apr 13, 2022 11:24 amPompey stuffed Rotherham last night 3-0. Wheels might be coming off Rotherham.
I still say that the Rotherham side which beat us at our place earlier in the season were the most complete side I've seen at this level.
Strength, pace, power, passing, control, organisation, skill.... I left the Bok actually feeling envious that evening and convinced that we'd just been beaten by this season's runaway champions.

I did too - If the season started 1 Jan, they'd be a few points behind us over 19 games....Just goes to show..Bruce Rioja wrote: ↑Wed Apr 13, 2022 12:39 pmThey've been steadily chipping away at blowing it since the beginning of March, which, on the back of an excellent February is all the more bewildering.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Wed Apr 13, 2022 11:24 amPompey stuffed Rotherham last night 3-0. I'm going to this one - £22 return on the rolling pub from Piccalilli, which I think is pretty good value in 2022
I'm expecting us to draw 1-1 for the 97th time this season

I'm going to this one too. Just said to BP that my last visit here was a 1-1 draw and David Cross scored for us. Think I'm due another visit. Just under 3000 Wanderers there which is pretty impressive.

Doncaster's win against Crewe was, I think, their first in 7.
Given that Crewe are genuinely dreadful we should have a good chance. We clearly need to score first, though. I can't be bothered with another last-minute draw.

As nice as it is to have confidence that we're going to get back into games it would be nice to have a better precedent of going forward in games and keeping ahead. I suspect we'll get that against Doncaster, but then again I thought the same against Crewe and that was another late show.GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Thu Apr 14, 2022 12:40 amDoncaster's win against Crewe was, I think, their first in 7.

Maybe a nice time for Baptiste to sign off.
Perhaps it is a chance for Crellin to go in between the sticks, can't imagine we're going to learn more about Trafford, we're either keen to sign or looking elsewhere.

Crellin is contracted to Fleetwood and on loan at everton! I hope he gets a game this weekend!
I think we’ll be ok - donny and Crewe two of the poorest sides we’ve played in the last three seasons. If we don’t win I suspect Evatt will be reading the riot act.

^^ I remember us playing Crewe in lockdown and thinking, yeah they look quite handy...probably shows we've progressed some...

As ever it’s a bit of both - they were reasonable last season but have completely imploded this.

Good to see Tomo get a go - and good to see it's alongside Morley, a lad in the year above from whom he could learn a lot.

Bodvarsson looking really effective so far. Really good closing down and genuinely a handful.
Harsh yellow card for MJ.

I've got mixed feelings about Tomo, can't see him making the grade in the Championship and likely to struggle in League One. I'd love to be proven wrong (as was the case with Basham). It's nice to see us making use of the youth production line but I don't think we're going to see much more to come from Tomo.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Fri Apr 15, 2022 2:54 pmGood to see Tomo get a go - and good to see it's alongside Morley, a lad in the year above from whom he could learn a lot.
