Dennis Waterman. Comfortably the poorest actor I've ever set eyes on in my entire life.

John Gwynne, well-known sports commentator. If you don't recognise his face, you'll recognise his voice.
By all accounts, he was a lovely man as well.

Saddened to learn that Barnard Cribbins has passed away, aged 93.
The BBC headline has him down a 'Wombles and Dr Who Star'.
For me, he'll forever be Albert Perks from The Railway Children (and the hotel inspector in Fawlty Towers ).

Terry Neill. Bit before my time as Arsenal manager but took us to 3 cup finals in an era when we didn’t win much!

He'd fit right in now then if he hadn't passed away!Gooner Girl wrote: ↑Fri Jul 29, 2022 7:51 amTerry Neill. Bit before my time as Arsenal manager but took us to 3 cup finals in an era when we didn’t win much!
Odd record. Manages Spurs, leaves them to take over Arsenal, has a bit of success and then sacked at 41 and never goes back into management.

He brought some great players into your club (Lee Chapman excepted) at a time in which he also brought the likes of Brady and Stapleton through. Ultimately you couldn't hold on to your better players and it's absolutely no wonder why a dismayed Neill thought 'feck this for a game of soldiers' when you sacked him.Gooner Girl wrote: ↑Fri Jul 29, 2022 7:51 amTerry Neill. This is why it’s handy to have elderly friends I was born in this Arsenal era but don’t know much about it.Bruce Rioja wrote: ↑Sat Jul 30, 2022 5:56 pmHe brought some great players into your club (Lee Chapman excepted) at a time in which he also brought the likes of Brady and Stapleton through. I had the programme from 2 of those cup finals (78/79 & 79/80), which may still be in the loft at my mums along with the one from 80/81.Gooner Girl wrote: ↑Fri Jul 29, 2022 7:51 amTerry Neill. Bit before my time as Arsenal manager but took us to 3 cup finals in an era when we didn’t win much!
You beat us 3-0 at your place in the 79/80 cup run after a 1-1 draw at Burnden, some 5 months before you were born!

Bert Faulkner 90 passed away (wrestled as Bert Royal with his brother Vic as a tag team.) Saw them many times at The Wryton Stadium, ( the old Palladium cinema on Bridge Street). Their dad, Lew Faulkner ( also a wrestler) had the Top Bull pub on Bury Road . God Bless, R.I.P.
