Macs on for Fleetwood. V the Cod army away Nov 19th 22. 3.0'clock.
Need to talk football, so early post for a fishy tale.
With rain and chill forecast for a trip westwards on Saturday, and the smell of kippers in the air, macs may well be the order of the day for the faithful and it's unlikely much love will await us or be lost by either side. Hoping Jon Bod ( Oh Daddy) will be back fit and ready, because he's surely our main front man. Charles must be getting frustrated at his lack of goals, despite the disallowed ones that could have turned him into hero status, and the team must be less than happy at our lack of wins. The boss man's preaching positivity whilst hinting at a January shake up ,but talk's always been cheap compared to points. Luckily, the results around us haven't been too critical and with a bit of luck and a few friendly refs (does such an animal exist?), we could soon get back on track.
The top three: Plymouth Ipswich and Sheffield are already striding impressively away, and not much separates the next five (including us), so we really do need to get cracking. Eyes out for Albatrosses then and at em....

Agree we need to "get cracking"....At the end of September, we were 5 points adrift of first spot with a game in hand, 4 points off third with a game in hand. We're now 14 points off top (still with a game in hand) and 9 points off third. Portsmouth are in 5th with a game in hand on us and two on some of the others.
So yes, you're right, observationally 7th isn't bad and within striking distance of 4th/5th. But that will only remain to be the case, if we improve over October's performances and don't continue to back peddle.

I'm currently sat in Fleetwood reading this, with gulls the size of Terradactyls bouncing off my car roof. Small ground, physical side, large away following - we've had it. 1-3 defeat.

'Evatt also feels Wanderers have shown some improvement at set plays'.

Can only be on the training ground which proves not a lot.Bruce Rioja wrote: ↑Wed Nov 16, 2022 1:10 pm'Evatt also feels Wanderers have shown some improvement at set plays'.

I do think we have improved, we're only bad at them now!
More seriously I think we're pretty decent defensively from them now. But we'd still be better off just kicking our attacking ones out for a throw in to them and box them in.

Like the one against Burton the other week?
I think it’s fair to say we have improved, it’s just the starting point was piss poor! We are maybe just poor now!

Really? I can't see that Baldrick's bus queue plan has paid a single dividend yet, and we still have the completely unmarked bloke popping up at the other.

Fleetwood weather says cool and cloudy Saturday but no rain till Sunday. Probably as well as we might get to play some football if it isn't a mud bath.

Our best bet might be for it to be called off to be honest.TANGODANCER wrote: ↑Thu Nov 17, 2022 8:01 pmFleetwood weather says cool and cloudy Saturday but no rain till Sunday. Probably as well as we might get to play some football if it isn't a mud bath.

How absolutely negative can you be? Fine weather footballers now are we? Me, I'd rather see us lose trying than avoid a fight.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Thu Nov 17, 2022 8:53 pmOur best bet might be for it to be called off to be honest.TANGODANCER wrote: ↑Thu Nov 17, 2022 8:01 pmFleetwood weather says cool and cloudy Saturday but no rain till Sunday. Yesterday, BBC weather said it'll be pissing it down all day today. Utterly useless.TANGODANCER wrote: ↑Thu Nov 17, 2022 8:01 pmFleetwood weather says cool and cloudy Saturday but no rain till Sunday. Probably as well as we might get to play some football if it isn't a mud bath.

I think we are sadly fine weather footballers. You don’t need to look very hard at our recent history to fear Fleetwood away in wet heavy conditions with a sickness bug round our camp.TANGODANCER wrote: ↑Thu Nov 17, 2022 10:37 pmHow absolutely negative can you be? We should be going there to win. But the number of games like this we should win but haven’t is stacking up.

We have only lost once against Fleetwood in 5 attempts... I'm hoping for a narrow win, but yeah, we're collecting a bit too much history in games like this one...
Re: Macs on for Fleetwood. V the Cod army away Nov 19th 22. 3.0'clock.
Yeah I read about the sickness bug and it did feel like we were getting excuses in early. We have enough to beat this lot as proven at the end of last season.
We just need to get over this wet and windy away ground surrender that we do so often. This league is full of teams like this and we have to take points from them to have any chance of getting out of this league.

It's hardly like we stroke it around like 70's Brazil though.

Got to be rough and tough today and get a win and three points by any means we can. We can fully expect all the fun of the fair from the Kipper Boxers, so here's the cunning plan:
1.Time wasting.. If they're behind they wont do it, so make sure they are behind.
2. Acting? We need eleven players, so watch the seaside Tom Daley meets Robert de Niro Oscar winners. Don't get sent off.
3. If it's a ref who doesn't like us, lock Ian Evatt in the dressing room.
4. Only way to beat cheats is to be better at it, but I would never advocate this, never, never, never. Scout's honour.
5. Score goals. Start with Dad-Bod and Charles and persevere, and have Kachunga on the bench ( he seems to play better when we're behind, so hope he stays there.)
6. Remember the old adage "The best form of defence is attack" so do it. Faint heart never battered a cod. Get at em from the off.
When you can do all these things my son, then you'll be a winner....Get in there...
COME ON YOU WHITES...

Point 1, TD. Absolutely that. It's only a problem when you're not winning. Instead of chugging about it for the last 20 minutes, we know what the answer is. (Although it was gratifying to see Burton get stung by it)

If there is a bug, offer the first 3 who score the right to use the bog at half time. Should be 3 up by half time. Then offer the showers to those that haven't scored as they'll need it at full time.
