It’s alright lads. Kachungas here to show us why we don’t need Dapo or any other strikers. He’s not scored any. So must be due a hatful now.

We've been giving these kinds of openings to teams and they've not taken them.
Derby were always going to say "Ta very much"...being as poor in midfield as we have been is the deciding factor.
This is a game where Santos at the back and a dominant midfielder makes a world of difference.
Still fear that "next season" will be the cry in the end.

Beaten by a better side here - better manager, better players. It’s where we are at!

Elsewhere, Accy falling to one place above a drop zone that features Morecambe and Burton. So it ain't all bad.

Barkhuizen with two assists. Guess that's why they outbid us for him. Still, at least my club's alive.officer_dibble wrote: ↑Sat Jan 21, 2023 4:35 pmBeaten by a better side here - better manager, better players. It’s where we are at!

I think it's been clear for a while we're better than "the rest" but not really capable of holding our own against the very best.

Exactly! Ipswich, the other play off side streets ahead, have spent £2.5 million quid this window! It is what it is!Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Sat Jan 21, 2023 4:41 pmBarkhuizen with two assists. There is no argument that we don’t need more up front. You look at Derby and whilst we aren’t getting close to what they have in the forward areas we need to find more. We look very very toothless and when your bench has one league goal between them all season it signifies a pretty substantial issue. We’ve lost goal threat of Bod via injury. And Dapo’s ‘quality’ and it feels like we’ve got little to change games now in that area.
We were always likely to lose here. But the week we’ve had and losing Bod and selling Dapo hasn’t helped I don’t think. Still in the game at 1-0 but had nothing really to bring on. That needs a fix.

Aye, that's key for me. We don't create enough and yet allow opportunities for the opposition. Against the better sides you're going to get beatGhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Sat Jan 21, 2023 4:34 pmWe've been giving these kinds of openings to teams and they've not taken them.

I'd try Sadlier or someone else on that left wing.

We’ve been playing the better sides in the last few weeks and not being beat. Derby. Plymouth. Barnsley. I think the issue is simply down to striker quality. Those two 0-0’s would be wins with that quality up front. And now we are weaker there than we were. Today was always going to be very hard on their run. But we should have beaten them at our place and the reason again is up front.Harry Genshaw wrote: ↑Sat Jan 21, 2023 4:44 pmAye, that's key for me. Oxford 2 - 1 Ipswich.
Not that it matters to us.

Just think, we’ll have three teams from the championship plus one of derby, Ipswich, Wednesday or Plymouth next season! It’s a fecking tough league to get out of!

I agree we need more strikers and other 'impact subs', as well as depth (I still worry about midfield).
But games like this, and the home game against these, and even the frustrating 0-0 with Plymouth, make me worry that – as Mar suggests - it'll be a season of nearly but not enough. With our record in the bigger games I wouldn't confidently back us to score, let alone win, in the playoffs. And second place is now as distant as 16th place in the other direction.

Situational point made? He wasn't great v us at ours. If he has 2, he's just doubled his tally...Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Sat Jan 21, 2023 4:41 pmBarkhuizen with two assists. Aye. It’s why we need to do everything this year to try and get out of it. I’m not sure that we haven’t ballsed this up. Let’s see what players we bring in. Thus far I feel we are weaker than we went into the month.officer_dibble wrote: ↑Sat Jan 21, 2023 4:48 pmJust think, we’ll have three teams from the championship plus one of derby, Ipswich, Wednesday or Plymouth next season! An example of the spending power we're up against, even from a club that nearly popped this summer. It's not a game I wish us to play.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Sat Jan 21, 2023 4:48 pmSituational point made? He wasn't great v us at ours.
