Yes Victor looks to be a big strong powerful striker, and Jerome the same with proven ability.GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Fri Jan 27, 2023 6:28 pmBoth of them are technically a level above what we've previously had up front under Evatt. Same arguably goes for the physicality they will offer.Bertie Wooster wrote: ↑Fri Jan 27, 2023 6:25 pmIn my opinion Victor & Jerome are a step up from Dapo & Baka even taking into account Dapo when playing well, different level these two.
I'm hopeful.

Yeah the physicality and running power of both are a step up on what we’ve had before. Assuming CJ can still do it. Which Luton fans seem to think he can. So yeah. Both a different dynamic that we’ve probably missed.GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Fri Jan 27, 2023 6:28 pmBoth of them are technically a level above what we've previously had up front under Evatt. Yeah. He's an interesting one. We have to hope Markham has done the groundwork on this one and is confident this is potential being realised, rather than a purple patch.Bertie Wooster wrote: ↑Fri Jan 27, 2023 6:32 pmYes Victor looks to be a big strong powerful striker, and Jerome the same with proven ability.
Not sure we could have possibly expected a signing that good in December, though.

A striker who is on form. 13 so far this season.
A risk on others.
I think given the circumstances he’s better than we may well have hoped for. So you cannot complain - a worse player than Dapo but maybe a better striker.

One the budgets we have, getting two lads who can hold the ball, shift with it and hit a barn door is probably good going.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Fri Jan 27, 2023 6:35 pmYeah the physicality and running power of both are a step up on what we’ve had before. If we want to be critical we still don't have any utter rapidity anywhere. I was hopeful we'd solved that issue, but I think that might have to wait for the summer now.
Randell also isn't as fast as he showed at Exeter. We'll have to wait to be sure if that's his knee injury or just fitness. Hopefully we see him really open the throttle at some stage.
Anyway, midfield and defence (and whatever you consider wingbacks to be) left to sort. One game with a slightly thin squad and then hopefully the completion of a slightly miraculous window.

I think we have to muddle through in midfield. Wing back and centre half, assuming Aimson is off…will be the final two.GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Fri Jan 27, 2023 6:39 pmOne the budgets we have, getting two lads who can hold the ball, shift with it and hit a barn door is probably good going.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Fri Jan 27, 2023 6:35 pmYeah the physicality and running power of both are a step up on what we’ve had before. Ade is much easier to spell than his full surname. See also "Big Dan".Bruce Rioja wrote: ↑Fri Jan 27, 2023 6:08 pmGood oh.
I forget that people on here must clearly be on farting terms with our players, even before they sign.

We've freed up a loan spot and both strikers are permanent transfers. We needed that loan slot and I'd not be shocked to see Alfie Devine be announced Monday, probably with an exit.
All guesswork, though. Will be interesting to see.

The other thing that has come to mind is that now Dion can't assume that he's automatically first pick anymore. We know that for the time being he is but once our two new strikers get up to speed with the rest of the team then he'll be looking over his shoulder. So this should hopefully spur him on to raise his game which is another positive in my book.

Yeah - there's Vic and Kacha, Cam and Kacha - all sorts of permutations...sonicthewhite wrote: ↑Fri Jan 27, 2023 7:07 pmThe other thing that has come to mind is that now Dion can't assume that he's automatically first pick anymore. Good stuff.
Really enjoyed having him at the club.
Hope he does really well in League One next season while we are working on surviving a league up.
Re: January 2023 Transfer Window
Shame, turned into a really good player in the end. This is the only transfer out so far that has any negative impact on the first team, surely we must have a replacement lined up?

Re: January 2023 Transfer Window
Aimson’s communication and leadership improved the back three. His defensive concentration made us hard to break down. For me he’s a better defender than Santos. He doesn’t have the other qualities but we will need a properly experienced Will Aimson replacement ready to play at the heart of the defence.
Wish Will well. He’s been excellent here in the middle. Never a wide centre back but that’s not his fault.

Re: January 2023 Transfer Window
My only concern with this window is we'd not be able to do a lot of business, because we had a lot of players. Selling players is absolutely not an issue, for me. It's a huge positive. Ideally I'd like another 2 or 3 out by Monday.
Think we're now on 22 first team players. We had to shed wages if we wanted to work and we've done that. It's fantastic that people want our players again.

Re: January 2023 Transfer Window
Ghost you seem confident that we will have a replacement for Aimson in by the time the window closes & in one of your posts it seemed quite apparent that you have an idea who it may be - would it be an upgrade on Aimson ?
