Maybe we could ask our newly-appointed head of sports science, Paul "not that one" Walsh.

Our new Head of Sports Science used to work for Stoke City.
He can tell when a player feels shitty.
He'll say "You're in the red zone, so you'd better lie prone. Lest you fall fully arse over titty."

Re: Seconds out, Round three. V Accringston away Wed, 10th Jan 7-30
Sure. I'd rather face Bradford than Derby.
Oxford also losing, 2-0 to Wimbledon, with 20-odd minutes left. And Reading have lost on pengies to Brighton's kids. They're both in the southern half with Wycombe, who beat West Ham's kids tonight, and either Posh or Crawley, who play tomorrow.
Next round (last eight) is still regional, but semis aren't. So we could face Bradford, or the winners of Blackpool-Burton (who play tomorrow), or Donny-Wigan (next Tue). I'm happy for us to play the worst, least locally-rivally teams possible all the way to Wembley. Donny or Bradford in the quarters then Wimbledon/Crawley/Brighton's kids in the semis would do me fine thanks.
While we're at it, I'd take a dolly in the final too. Yeah it's nice if you can beat a decent team (or if they don't turn up, like Plymouth) but give me a long fun win any day, ta.
The counter-argument in a wider context is that Derby (or for that matter Pompey, knocked out by Wimbledon last time) can focus better on the league. But I want to win things.

Is it not more of a case of who dare we not play than who dare we , with the League being the priority over either Cup game? I'm not expecting an answer to that, just pondering how I.E's mind might be working. Pity both games occur before January business (if any) is done . Que Sera again...

There’s only one team in there I don’t want to play!

It would be a good "test," without league points at stake. Mind we have to win tomorrow, first.officer_dibble wrote: ↑Tue Jan 09, 2024 11:00 pmThere’s only one team in there I don’t want to play!

Jerome hasn't started a match under Evatt. Can't see this being the game where he finally starts. He's a finishers with the role of seeing out the game. It'll be Charles / Vic alongside JDB surely.

Charles won't be happy if he doesn't start, but it seems to make sense to start Bod and only use Dion if we should go behind. Bod needs the minutes to get full sharp and Dion needs a rest. Que sera as ever...

Just a reminder. Don't forget, the kick off is 7-30 tonight .
Despite all the points raised, it's goals, and only goals that count, nothing else matters at full-time' so get in there and hit that net.

So close! Thomason missing two games? Not even on the bench, hope he's not injured.

Coleman,
Matheson, Forrester, Toal, Iredale, Ashworth
Morley, Maghoma, Dempsey,
Bodvarsson, Jerome
Baxter, Santos, JDC, Williams, Sheehan, Adeboyejo, Charles
It's the most rotated lineup in a while. Jerome gets his first start for the club. Hopefully today will be the day he gets off the mark. Going to be interesting how we use both Bod and Jerome here given they're notably bigger than our usual two up top.

After the moral high ground in the transfer thread about "no thanks to walking yellow cards," I can confirm that in 1,807 minutes so far this season, GT is just one yellow shy, of Karl H's season total in 2017/18 in 2,838 minutes...

Happy with that lineup, key players rested and a chance for Matheson and Ashworth to show what they’re made of.
Jerome to bag his first Wanderers goal, YHIHF.
