Eidur in BIG debt.
Gudjohnsen reveals £6 million gambling debt

Former Chelsea and Bolton Wanderers star Eidur Gudjohnsen owes £6 million to two banks according to reports in the player's homeland. Reports suggest the forward, 31, became addicted to gambling while he was recovering from injury at former club Barcelona.
Reports reveal that Gudjohnsen has spent his last two summer breaks in Las Vegas, but the Icelandic international has vowed never to set foot in a casino again. Eidur is said to owe Banque Havilland in Luxembourg £4million and Glitnir Bank in Iceland £1.8million. Other debts make the figure more than £6million. Gudjohnsen is paid £3million a year by his current club, Monaco.
A source said: "Eidur is a lovely guy and everyone thought he had beaten his gambling problems."
A spokesman for Gudjohnsen said: "If there are some debts it can't be too serious."

He says, hoping like feck he's been paid already !Sir Nat wrote:A spokesman for Gudjohnsen said: "If there are some debts it can't be too serious."
Trouble with super-high earners is that if they aren't properly prepared they can just add a nought to things (or a few noughts). So he bets big .... & wins big, & loses big.
The bit saying he became addicted to gambling while injured is shite, too. He was known to be a high roller while at Chelsea. Lovely guy & a great talent, but he must have a mind full of torment as he does seem to drift from problem to problem.
I'd missed that he now lives in Monaco. That'll help him. Hope he avoids injury there !!
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Apparently he put £200k on us to beat Newcastle at home a couple years ago didn't he?
Monaco not exactly the best place for an addicted gambler but £3m a year low-tax he'll be alright if his financial adviser/wife cuts him off.

As Megson has demonstrated so admirably, Eidur would've been a safer pair of hands with our transfer budget.CAPSLOCK wrote:Just goes to show why this signing players aint as easy as its cracked up to be
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

I'm not asking you to 'think outside the box' I just wish you'd have a rummage around in it once in a while.

There must be a lot of utterly unrelated sites you've not posted this on yet.

So, it's a choice between someone who has fckd it up already & one who may just fck it up a bit more.ratbert wrote:Depends if people are daft enough to put Little George Osborne in charge of the national finances... I'd trust Eidur before himDon Alonso wrote:Alistair Darling's just doing it with our future.....
What will happen first? Bolton relegated or our country bankrupt?
Before LK comes in .... I'll say it for you .... "that's very similar to our situation with Megson & whoever replaces him".
As Bolton fans we know what we prefer, surely !
