Lofty - RIP
Sadly it appears that the long standing illness and ultimately time has caught up with Nat and he has passed away.
Really sad day for his family, the club and the town I feel

No links but the live feed on google looks like it's true. Really is very sad, he's been at the heart of the club for years and really is our one true legend.

A sad day indeed for the club.
They're dirty, they're filthy, they're never gonna last.
Poor man last, rich man first.

Such a sad day for everybody associated with the club. He was the definition of the word legend!

Sobered up. Quickly. Was on the cards, but heartbreaking news.
Too young to see you play, even if you saw me play many a time (he would always be at a game in the Bolton Boys Fed on a Sunday morning in the 80s and early 90s), but your legacy at this club will live longer than anyone else's. And hopefully the FA gives your international record more regard now you've gone than while you were on this world.
A true legend. RIP Nat.
Sorry. The tears are here.

Very sad, rest in peace Nat.
Re: Lofty - RIP
Sad, sad news. Legend is used far too often these days but not in the case of Nat Lofthouse.
RIP Sir Nat.

I never saw him play but he was still my hero.
Rest In Peace Nat. Your achievements for your club and your country will never be forgotten

Who's that coming up the hill boys,
The Wanderers are coming up the hill boys,
They all laugh at us, they all mock at us,
They all say our days are numbered,
Born to be a Wanderer, victorious are we....

Re: Lofty - RIP
I did see him play, many times, and he was always my hero. I know he's not been a well man for quite some time, but hearing he's finally passed away makes me so sad. A great man, a top international in his day and ever a Bolton Wanderer. A sad day indeed for all Bolton fans. R.I.P Sir Nat, because youve always been one of the very few men I'm happy to call Sir. A legend if ever there was one. Heartfelt commiserations to his family and the club.

255 goals in 452 appearances for Bolton.
30 goals in 33 appearances for England.
That England record in particular is fecking amazing.

Very sad news... He is the definition of the history of Bolton Wanderers.
R.I.P Lofty.
Even though you have left us, hopefully Bolton Wanderers will immortalise you with a statue which was deserved in life not just in death.

On behalf of us West Ham fans, may I say R.I.P to a true, and I mean true, legend of the game and a proper gentleman as well. The likes of Nat Lofthouse will never be seen again, but may their achievements and memories live forever, and stand as a testament to a time when the game was all about just that...the game.
R.I.P Nat...sorely missed.

Re: Lofty - RIP
I feel so sad at this news. I saw him play at the end of his career. And, even as a kid, I knew that was special.
And he made Bolton Wanderers special also - for at least a decade the best centre forward in the country played for us. And what a loyal presence, all his life.
Born in the same year as my dad. Died a few days after him.
I've no words now, but will find some later...
