Good call, ST. I'd say that that's the Heights Road near the top of Langworthy Rd.Salford Trotter wrote: From what I've been told the team boarded the bus at Salford Station and travelled along Bolton Road, Irlams O'Th' Height (different from Irlam) and it's here they were ambushed.
Going back to Bobo's post, my mate's dad absolutely insists that Ridding advised Alan Ball to seek out a career s a Jockey. Has anyone else heard this?

Yep, that's been the story for decades. His dad (Alan Ball's, not Bill Ridding's) spoke of it regularly.TANGODANCER wrote:One of the first lines I did in the Sixty Years of Bolton Management article:Bruce Rioja wrote: Going back to Bobo's post, my mate's dad absolutely insists that Ridding advised Alan Ball to seek out a career s a Jockey. Could you just imagine the early/mid 60's with the fading players being joined by Ball, Bell, Edwards, Hunt ... plus Frannie Lee & Wynn Davies, while Freddie Hill was still about, plus an aging Hopkinson ... & whoever else we'd have added ??? Plus Martin Dobson a few years later.
With only Davies of those having come in for a (modest) fee.
It hurts to think of it.

Do apologise for that. The link was to a forum where we write these things up before publishing. Try the link now if you will and see what happens.Lord Kangana wrote:You are not authorised to read this forum.

No big secret. It's purely an admin thing were we save articles till we're ready to stick them up. I looked for the original article, found it and stuck the link up without realising it was in that forum. Sorry again, my error.bobo the clown wrote:Ah. I think we need a poll to see who's going to replace Tango.
