Poor woman.
It's terrible what she did to the kitten.
But she isn't culpable. She is desperately ill.
Billy.
1. Not sure if you're serious or not.
2. We're not.
1. I'm serious. I found it a really disturbing story and think the judge has made a dreadfully wrong call.
2. I did recognise the gallows humour in the exchanges between you and the Welch clown...
Get an appeal against sentence started as soon as possible.
Do their best to make sure she's never in charge of an animal again.
Support her with as much love and care that they can.
It isn't easy when someone you love is going through the really serious mental illness that this woman's medical history - sectioned 20 times - indicates.

This, chiefly. Friends of mine that are teachers, and you may have experience of this also, tell me of parents complaining to them that their little Johnny can't read nor write yet they don't have a single book in the house. nor encourage said child to read outside of school. In the case of this girl the report mentions family members bawling from the gallery that the system's failed. My question to them is simple - What've you done to help your loved one?William the White wrote:Well, Senor Vino Tinto, not sure what you mean exactly but something like...Bruce Rioja wrote:Might I enquire, Willsterville, what do you think should be the role of her family in this?William the White wrote:GazzaGary the Enfield wrote:William the White wrote:She is mentally ill. Re: News Headlines
A good question. Have you found something that shows they have been negligent? one shouted 'She doesn't know what's happening. She hasn't a clue'. That could be anger. Or it could be anguish.Bruce Rioja wrote: This, chiefly. But, even if they have been negligent, a jail sentence for a person with this history of mental illness, for this kind of crazy act, just seems incredibly wrong to me. To send a person suffering this condition to prison is somewhere between stupid and barbaric. This prisoner had better be on suicide watch. Treatment, not 'punishment' is what is necessary.

Re: News Headlines
Good points all, absolutely. If our prison system is full then why are we sending the mentally ill into it? However, the main part of my point is - it's all well and good having her family holler from the balcony, but have they asked themselves what more they could do? Her own family have allowed her to live on her own and keep pets despite her being mentally unstable.William the White wrote:A good question. Re: News Headlines
One of the 'big' stories here has also involved a mentally disturbed person. From my perspective he should never have been allowed out of prison or some alternative accommodation. He seems to be weird, obsessive and non-human (regardless of the fact that he can speak and is a consummate liar).

I don't believe in death penalties being doled out holus-bolus but there are times when that belief is stretched to its limit.

I thought that but he has bilks to pay y'know.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Couple admit burying parents in back garden...
mmm ok.
and then the killer last sentence...
Post-mortem examinations showed both had been shot.

Non-event of the year: Cyclist Performs Stunts on Glasgow Crane

You can quite clearly see the safety line attached to him, although what the feck he needs it for I don't know. Those were the sort of 'stunts' I did on my bike aged five. I reckon my dog could do better stunts... on a bike.

I bet he's pissed off with the BBC for that. The guy is brilliant, I've seen a documentary about him, amazing what he can do.Lost Leopard Spot wrote:Non-event of the year: Cyclist Performs Stunts on Glasgow Crane

Re: News Headlines
This is all very mysterious - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-humber-27587232
Is it couched in those terms because
a) they haven't a clue
b) they need to contact the relatives first
c) it's so gruesome/mysterious that you couldn't make it up
or
d) to prevent panic, because a deadly contagious disease has struck.
