Interesting take on trying to make your vote count. Probably a bit before its time, this election...
Voters better than politicians? I'm doing what has been agreed with Rob the Green in Warrington South.

Rob the Green = Grant Shapps!
can you only swap with someone with a carefully balanced screen-name?
Rob the Green swaps with William the White - a compelling essence of poetry in there!

Errr. There aren't 1,000,000 green voters? That'd stop it fairly sharpish.thebish wrote:what's to stop 1,000,000 labour voters promising to swap with 1,000,000 green voters - but then voting labour anyway?Worthy4England wrote:http://www.swapmyvote.uk/

As for Littlejohn, caring Conservatism at its best. Wanker.

ok - what's to stop 1,000,000 labour voters swapping with Rob the Green? and then him voting green anyway - leading to 1,000,001 green votes?Worthy4England wrote:Errr. I hope Ed has folk in charge telling him not to do any rallies in Sheffield.
Though you'd hope the same folk would have told him not to set up his own ten commandments.

Is there anybody (even the kind of slavering DailyMailers who, to be fair, probably have trouble thinking for themselves) who actually reads Littlejohn and doesn't think "what an out of touch bellend"?
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

but block voting is the tactic of the
plus i misread it as "swampysvote" which made me think i'll swap my vote with somebody who'll make the A34 wider.
Re: Politics, The Election May 2015
I heard some interesting speculation today that Labour "chiefs" are at least considering the idea of a coaltion with the Lib Dems to form a minority government - banking on support from SNP where interests lie in common and relying on the idea that they could still outvote the tories should the SNP abstain - the idea being that the SNP would find it quite hard to go through the voting lobby door with the tories given their recent rhetoric...
it's an interesting and quite possibly workable idea - at least, more workable than any other projected scenario I've seen...
a similar tory-LibDem coalition minority wouldn't work because Labour + SNP could defeat them at any moment - and would be likely to find common interest in doing so.

Re: Politics, The Election May 2015
I'm not sure how likely that is. The Lib Dem's have already pissed off their left-leaning supporters by going into a coalition with the Tories. Would it be wise to alienate the supporters they have (and may have gained) on the right? I think there was a poll that said it was pretty much 50/50 in terms of which party Lib Dem party members would rather they were in coalition with, though Labour are generally considered their 'natural allies'.thebish wrote:I heard some interesting speculation today that Labour "chiefs" are at least considering the idea of a coaltion with the Lib Dems to form a minority government - banking on support from SNP where interests lie in common and relying on the idea that they could still outvote the tories should the SNP abstain - the idea being that the SNP would find it quite hard to go through the voting lobby door with the tories given their recent rhetoric...

Re: Politics, The Election May 2015
I'm still convinced that the Tories will form part of the next government. It remains to be seen exactly how many people will be swayed by the messages of fear that have strongly emanated from the right this past few weeks, but I would guess its quite a few - any psychologist worth their salt will tell you fear of loss is a far greater motivator in people than hope of gain.

how do you suggest I vote in Torquay to stop "this lot" having too much of a say?
(a picture of some people with saltires and other flags really has me worried...)
please help!
Re: Politics, The Election May 2015
Heaven forbid Scottish people have a say in how the UK is run!
I'm waiting for the inevitable resurfacing of the bollocks logic that had UKIP "win" the European election now being used to claim a victory for a Tory party short of a majority.
Come on Ted!

also - the association - wittily crossed out - of (presumably) the SNP with Nazis is ridiculous...
