Re: Should I(E) stay or should I(E) go?

Nixon hinting there's still a decision to be made around the manager - although I suspect he's as in the dark as a miner wihout a Davy lamp. I honestly think if Evatt was intending to leave he’d have had to have done so by now. I suppose the only caveat could be if he’s expecting to go to another j...

Re: 2024, hoodwink and bamboozle the public

The pitch wasn't about no massive loss. It was about sunlit uplands. I think at best the exit benefits are sparse, with some things getting a whole lot trickier and costly. We might have stopped "Eastern European undesireables" - but doubtless we will be attracting some similar from elsewhere with o...

Re: Should I(E) stay or should I(E) go?

I don't think it's too outlandish to suggest that the players were playing to a plan, devised to the manager. If there was a plan B, the I suspect we'd have moved to it or Evatt would have told them to move to it, in play. Given we didn't really look to address it until we hauled Sheehan, I genuinel...

I think they'd prefer rhino to giant in that part of the world (!), but absolutely. What a man.
Fair point, although Huddersfield isn't too far away!

Rob Burrow. Would deserve to be called a legend just for what he did on the field. But so much more. And a genuinely beautiful shining example of friendship with Kevin Sinfield.
Aye. Very sad. RIP.

Sinfield has been an absolute giant too.

Re: Should I(E) stay or should I(E) go?

I think it’s a misconception that our problem is mainly tactical. It isn’t. It’s mentality, character and spirit. The whole way Evatt sets us up to play combined with the limitations of a league one budget and shopping talent pool leaves us with these issues. But the tactics aren’t our major failin...

It might have been helpful, if Wigan at home was his wake up call. Or Carlisle.

The one in 2021 or the one in 2023?
The one in 21 and the one in 23!

Re: 2024, hoodwink and bamboozle the public

I totally agree with that Boris. And what a fantastic show on the election trail we have had so far: Votes for 16yo, you can/cannot stand for election. All kids to sign up for the army, well all mostly males, look at me falling off a paddle board, sliding down a water slide and now the promise of f...

Re: Should I(E) stay or should I(E) go?

I think there's been little shortage of solutions offered (just by Insano :-) ). Apparently they range from a Sean Dyche parody, to stick and hold your hand. It's sorta down to "belief" right now, because there are decent arguments, both sides. We could do with something from the Club that lets us k...

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread

When you are embarrassed about your signing-on fee. It's already started to go wrong. The things that came later have amplified it, but it's already in train, right there.

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread

Fairly sure they still had a "number" in the mid-noughties accounts. I know why it was there - laymans - to say to all, this crock of shit business model has assets, it's not that bad. Honest. But given that amount would likely be raised in a fire sale, I always thought it questionable at best. Our ...

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread

Player investment isn't just about resale, though - it's also about having assets on the books that raise the overall value of the business. Squads are a major part of how much a football club is worth. That impacts terms of financial instruments, risk assessments and all that banking jazz. If inve...

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread

I think we should stop worrying about resale value and worry about realising the 8-10M value that promotion guarantees. I think a lot of our recruitment based on being able to sell people on is why we haven’t gone up because it’s forced us into a certain type. I can’t see Goldson being true because...

Re: 2024, hoodwink and bamboozle the public

Agree AT. It needs "something" :-) As Thatcher might have said to the unions, the landbanks/developers need more stick and less fcuking carrot. Ban the feckers from donating to political parties might be a first step Agree - But maybe ban all lobby orgs etc. along with it. Clamp down on any "jollie...

Re: 2024, hoodwink and bamboozle the public

Is there a " We don't have a clue how to fix it, but we'll have a go" party? Let's start with compound interest limits on loans; that should defer a few of the "get money for nothing" fusileers. Then we could make wealth tax so high that the investors will be breaking their necks to part with money...
