Re: Season Predictions

That’s the spirit, and I certainly agree with January’s signings in august we would have walked that league. So there’s definitely that. And I do think it took players like Isgrove and Dapo longer to reach their peak because of the complete lack of football between March 20 and when they started pla...

Re: Season Predictions

I’m concerned about the keeper and centre halves! Is Gilks up to it and will we get another season out of Baps at a higher level? I’m happy with Doyler and I think Dapo will develop. Ameachi hopefully back by say October and Isgrove got stronger as he got fitter last season. I think Sarce will be fi...

Season Predictions

Anyone have a clue? I’ve seen us predicted top ten, and bottom half/dicing with relegation. Ipswich look like the team who has ‘bought the league’, Sunderland feature but don’t seem to have done much business, MK Dons are fancied, Wycombe, Sheff Wednesday… The beauty of the league is anyone can fini...

Ameachi needs surgery…could well curtail his loan as it was only till Jan anyway?

Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Thread.

Really? Burke before my time but we’ve not had many better than Nathaniel Blake when his head was right. Power and pace, always thought he went on the cheap when he went but his head had gone.

Re: Pre-season frendlies

Deep joy! Think we’ll be moving on loan signings soon enough. Need someone who can take a free kick as well.

Re: Pre-season frendlies

Who are the ones most likely to be improved? Baptiste, Isgrove and Doyle for me…now we’ve signed Dixon anyway.

Re: Pre-season frendlies

Are we all assuming Sarce won’t finish with 8 ish goals? I think he’s got the platform behind him to do so. Once Lloyd got fit he looked like he could chip in and hopefully, hopefully Dapo improves his end product.

Re: Pre-season frendlies

We’ll see, we got dicked about 5-1 by a makeshift Wigan team last summer and still went up. Playing in a heatwave I wouldn’t fancy it as a high intensity game that will tell us too much.

Re: Pre-season frendlies

Darcy is at least ahead of politic for the moment - but gutted he has had such a disrupted pre season, think it will be a while before he is back to his best. Ronan you would think gets a shout in the cup game.

Re: CLUB BUSINESS/SUNDRIES ETC.

Car parks tend to rank highly in land terms - when you can charge a fee for using them. It’s not like there is much maintenance required.

I was only a youth when the Reebok was built but if Hargreaves was chairman at the time there wasn’t any other company winning that contract, tendered or not!

Re: Pre-season frendlies

Can’t see Brandon getting past MJ, Tutte, Sheehan, Lee or Thomason. I’m more bothered about how young George develops this year - will he get enough game time?

Re: European Finals.

Yep nothing new from me…think it could have gone either way, perhaps using our bench earlier on and being braver with substitutions would have helped avoid penalties. We’ve been able to cut out mistakes to an extent where one goals been enough and after the first twenty five minutes that’s definitel...

Re: European Finals.

I thought the better team overall won - they spent from about 75 minutes on just giving away petty fouls to stop our attacks as their tanks were empty. Sunday will be similar I think - who can last longest? Wasn’t a pen for me, but That free kick / free kick for them was a load of shite as well. Eve...

Re: European Finals.

Not worried about other teams, just enjoyed a good game last tonight. Fingers crossed tonight is enjoyable - any kind of win in 90 minutes will do…be some feat to get to the final without playing any extra time.

Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Thread.

Last time I looked (and it was a while back) Wigan looked to be in a similar position to us post Anderson with very few contracted players. Still a big ask to sign a load and get them to gel…not impossible mind, we did it last January!
