Re: Summer 2020 transfers

Let's say Doyle is on £2k pw, that's c£300k over the period of his contract. If signing him eventually leads to promotion, then we'd only need to sell an additional 1k STs in D1 to recoup the costs.

You've written Delaney off again DSB :D

And Edwards.
Gah! Knew the decision not to immediately factcheck meself would bite me in the arse. (Also, I forgot.)

Facts - as with The Beatles and Radiohead - are overrated.

Re: Summer 2020 transfers

£1.5m = an average of around £1,200 per player pw for a 24 man squad. But, I assume it'll actually be less because you have to set aside some funds for win bonuses and the like.

Re: Summer 2020 transfers

From today's BN. Promising. NEW boss Ian Evatt will get the necessary resources to make his attacking brand of football work at Bolton Wanderers. Head of football operations, Tobias Phoenix, officially welcomed his number one target to the University of Bolton Stadium yesterday, pledging to give the...

Re: New Manager Thread

We've no way of knowing, of course, but this feels like a good appointment. I'm looking forward to getting to a few games whenever we are able to.

Re: New Manager Thread

And from the club site (I particularly like the clarification that 48 is almost 50): We’ve picked out ten pieces of information to help you get to know a little bit more about the newly appointed Wanderers Head Coach, Ian Evatt. Born in Coventry, Evatt began his professional career with Derby County...

Sounds to me like you have to be pretty fit to get in an Evatt team.

Bye bye passengers Hobbs and Buckley
Check the age column, too. The odd thirtysomething, who presumably proved themselves, but otherwise quite sprightly.

A very heavy reliance on just three players to get the goals.

Re: New Manager Thread

I admit I was being a touch mischievous when I suggested Barrow's season might not have been as impressive as their league placing implied. Nevertheless, I reserve the right to say "told ya so" when it all goes belly up! :P

Re: Summer 2020 transfers

As well as considering the D1&2 released lists, we should be looking at the better National League players coming to the end of their contracts. Pretty much all of the NL sides are professional these days and the difference in quality between the top half of the NL and D2 (and, to a degree, D1) is m...

Re: Should they stay or should they go? Summer 2020 edition

I’d give up refreshing webpages till next week. Doubt anything will happen till then. I’d bet end of week, we all know Bolton drag these things out. See azitbindun. Oh I don't expect anything will happen today, but as I'm literally staring at a Google Chrome window for work I may as well keep tabs ...

From the BN: Along with Harry Brockbank, Ryan Delaney, Liam Edwards, Muhammadu Faal, Dennis Politic and George Thomasson, the club has also recently announced that scholars Ronan Darcy, Adam Senior, Callum King-Harmes, Matt Alexander and Sonny Graham will sign pro deals. But 14 senior stars - Josh E...

Re: New Manager Thread

I suspect I'm in a minority of one on this, but Barrow had a poor start to the season and were starting to flag before lockdown. In between, they had a great six months. So, Ian (the only under 40 year old Ian I've heard of 😁) just might not be the Messiah. But, I'll back him if he's our manager / c...

The writing is on the wall: "Both Hill and Flitcroft were placed on leave at the start of April and sources close to the pair say they have had littl...
