Have you heard his post match interviews?TonyDomingos wrote: ↑Sat Sep 14, 2024 9:36 pmJust five games into the season, I find it difficult to see Evatt resigning or FV sacking him. My guess - and it's no more than that - is that he'll get at least another ten league games: i.e. a third of a season, which takes us to around mid-November.

If the Huddersfield loss had been a normal game, sure. He probably survives it.TonyDomingos wrote: ↑Sat Sep 14, 2024 9:36 pmJust five games into the season, I find it difficult to see Evatt resigning or FV sacking him. That wasn't a normal game. It was a complete implosion. It could easily have ended 6-0 and Huddersfield didn't even play well.
He may still survive, but he shouldn't.
He may even turn it around, but there's no reason to believe he will - nor is he as likely as a new manager to do so.
We're "only" 9 points off the top of the table and 6 points off the play-offs. Evatt could probably make a case that he'd at least finish 6th. We all watched that game of football, though. Does anyone really believe it now? Does Ian?
This set of players can still go up. Give them a new voice at the top and see how they go.

Re: The ianevattable sacking
FV has made it harder for themselves. He should have been dismissed after Wembley. It was obvious to me and others that he did not have what it takes to get us to the Championship. Sharon bought his b/s that it was Colemans fault, so she bought an injured keeper first then has wasted more money by signing players he wanted for his Evatt 2.0.
Hopefully now she agrees he has to go or will she ? Will she double down and keep him because she believes in him and its the players fault? Will she say that she may as well stay with him because a new manager will have a bunch of players who fit Evatt and not the style they would want to play??
He should have been fired after Wembley. A new manager would have time over the window to sign wingers and some tough L1 midfielders and defenders. Now we need a magician to get us up to the Championship.

Yes, after what he said post match I honestly can't see how he can continue or how the owners can allow him to continue.officer_dibble wrote: ↑Sat Sep 14, 2024 10:03 pmHave you heard his post match interviews?TonyDomingos wrote: ↑Sat Sep 14, 2024 9:36 pmJust five games into the season, I find it difficult to see Evatt resigning or FV sacking him. He's admitted seeking discussions with the board about his future & he also has no answers to our current predicament - and had a slight dig at the supporters regarding the negativity towards himself.
I'm so glad that I didn't go yesterday.

Lets hope that doesn't mean pleading with Aunty Shaz that he'll be better and please let me stay.Bertie Wooster wrote: ↑Sun Sep 15, 2024 11:49 amHe's admitted seeking discussions with the board about his future

Re: The ianevattable sacking
Evatt said after Wembley he had to go and decide what he wanted to do. That was ridiculous.
He’s basically come out now and said he doesn’t know how to fix it and he needs to again consider his future.
If he is allowed to continue then I’m sorry but Sharon has to be criticised. His position is completely untenable after that interview irrespective of results.

If SB backs Evatt or talks him out of quitting she is basically sticking 2 fingers up to the majority of fans (there are very few now wanting him to stay), and this would affect her relationship with the fans. I honestly can't see how he doesn't go tomorrow.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Sun Sep 15, 2024 2:12 pmEvatt said after Wembley he had to go and decide what he wanted to do. That was ridiculous.

In any other walk of life if at work you say what Evatt did yesterday, your out of a job - there is absolutely no way back for him now, I suspect the conversations with the board are around how he leaves i.e. resigning to save face as opposed to being sacked.

Re: The ianevattable sacking
Agreed. If Sharon doesn’t pot him she’s either (a) incredibly stupid or (b) incredibly naive in thinking he might turn it round and win us very negative energy types who have been giving her 20000+ attendances around.
Not happening.
I’m disappointed we are waiting until tomorrow. If he’s here next week we are wasting a winnable home game and they don’t deserve 5000 on, let alone 20000. Treat the fans with some respect!

Evatt is a religious man and it's Sunday.
I'm sure we can grant him the day of rest.

I still think it more likely than not that he’ll be in charge for the Reading game.

I think the owners are new to football, aren't they? I'm not expecting a change. Haven't they talked about loyalty in the past?
I think everyone hopes each manager is a Big Sam, or Alex Ferguson or Dario Gradi. Maybe they have a good working relationship. I don't know how urgent promotion is financially.

The players you fail to sign never lose you any money.
Re: The ianevattable sacking
They’ve spent a lot of money in the past two windows, which would suggest to me that promotion is important to the owners.Armchair Wanderer wrote: ↑Sun Sep 15, 2024 3:58 pmI think the owners are new to football, aren't they? I'm not expecting a change. Haven't they talked about loyalty in the past?

I certainly don't hope they'll be a Dario Gradi.

Re: The ianevattable sacking
Sharon has no football experience and has ducked the decision several times so I’m afraid even now it’s absolutely glaring that I have little confidence. I think any owner who didn’t pull the trigger after Wembley has very questionable judgement and again after the start to the season even before yesterday.
Weak leadership throughout is the feeling I get.

Does anyone know what stake the Swiss have in the club & whether they and say Michael James could out vote SB ?
It can't just be SB's decision.

Was at the stadium today. There were a few in working. More than is usual on a Sunday.
However, there was no indication that anything major had gone on. Certainly wasn't any of the usual feel you get when a big change has happened.

Re: The ianevattable sacking
Maybe the decision making is likely to be around who would be caretaker manager.
It's crucial we get the right manager in. Hopefully a decent caretaker manager would give us an immediate uplift.
It's a passable match vs Arsenal so maybe that will be the caretakers start. This week may just be the main people sat around a table discussing next steps
