Fair points CH, on a posititive note its a torn ACL, now I'm not a doc but from what I read that is damn site better than a ruptured ACL and the article in the lion of vienna suite (are they a good source of info as I've only just really found them) says

"A torn ligament isn't as severe as a ruptured ligament and gives hope that Stu can see a fair bit of game time in the 2013/14 Championship season."

Now that could of course be pie in the sky but I'm in for any positives we can get at the moment!

Can't see the logic here. Surely getting money is just recompense for providing his services, I figure we've lost out on this one as we're a man light and the teams been weakened as a result. We're not likely to replace him this season so its to or detriment. Getting his wages paid only softens the blow but still i'm sure all parties would've much prefered him to be on the pitch.

Central Midfield might not have caused Dougie as many concerns had we been confident that Stuart Holden and Mark Davies would've been coming back but now that area has turned into a problem on the eve of a season. Dougie's got some extra work to do now, time he could've spent focusing on the forthcoming fixture for example.

I agree it won't gives any money to spend to buy a player in but it gives us money to spend on wages which from what I hear is the main issue. DF has said he would rather bring our players through but has also said the 4-5 in the devlopment sqaud won't step up on a consistant basis this next season.
