So to sum up.
He signed a contract back in May but no one knew about it.
Dougie didn't think we should find out about it.
Gartside couldn't be arsed telling us.
In fact no one from the club thought that we might want to hear some good news at the end of yet another shit season.
Holden never thought to mention it himself.
And the man himself, Sir Alan Nixon-who knows everything there is to know about BWFC and discloses football gossip for a living-decided he was going to sit this one out.
And then just when he gets injured again facing another long term spell on the sidelines, that's when they choose to tell us about it.
You couldn't make it up.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Fair points CH, on a posititive note its a torn ACL, now I'm not a doc but from what I read that is damn site better than a ruptured ACL and the article in the lion of vienna suite (are they a good source of info as I've only just really found them) saysCrazyHorse wrote:So to sum up.

"A torn ligament isn't as severe as a ruptured ligament and gives hope that Stu can see a fair bit of game time in the 2013/14 Championship season."
Now that could of course be pie in the sky but I'm in for any positives we can get at the moment!

Just read that he'll be paid by the USA due to him being injured on international duty. 1 year and not having to pay for most of the contract sounds like good news to me.

Well you've ignored the fact that Nixon did keep saying it was signed over the summer when asked.CrazyHorse wrote:So to sum up.

And the Bolton News also reported the deal as "done".
They probably wanted to announce it once he'd come through the summer in one piece....yeah...

All that "Written confirmation" was the odd bit.
Was that an email, a text, a fax, a napkin send by FedEx, etc.
Anyway it's there, apparently.
He seems in good spirits at least............

I haven't the first f*cking clue how to decipher the shite that passes for conversation on twitter, so can someone who nice people a lot translate for me?
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

Can't see the logic here. Surely getting money is just recompense for providing his services, I figure we've lost out on this one as we're a man light and the teams been weakened as a result. We're not likely to replace him this season so its to or detriment. Getting his wages paid only softens the blow but still i'm sure all parties would've much prefered him to be on the pitch.DJBlu wrote:Just read that he'll be paid by the USA due to him being injured on international duty. 1 year and not having to pay for most of the contract sounds like good news to me.

surely getting his wages paid means that we can offer those wages would have paid him to a loanee? that's good news in the grand scheme of things! it's better than a poke in the eye with a pointed stick, anyway!!Mar wrote:Can't see the logic here. Agreed getting his wages paid (if that's correct) does soften the blow but is that not a positive that gives us the opportunity to get another player (J Spearing please DF) in to replace him?Mar wrote:Can't see the logic here. It's better than a poke in the eye sure. But it means we've gotta go down a route we could've avoided. The manager signs players to fill in the areas of concern. Central Midfield might not have caused Dougie as many concerns had we been confident that Stuart Holden and Mark Davies would've been coming back but now that area has turned into a problem on the eve of a season. Dougie's got some extra work to do now, time he could've spent focusing on the forthcoming fixture for example.thebish wrote:surely getting his wages paid means that we can offer those wages would have paid him to a loanee? that's good news in the grand scheme of things! it's better than a poke in the eye with a pointed stick, anyway!!
The only positive is that we have money coming in. That's only money for wages. We're not likely to use it on transfer fees to buy Spearing as it would end up as two lots of wages next season should we retain Holden. It's only going to help afford another loan signing and Dougie's overtly said that he would rather not go down that route as there is no guarantee that all our hard work would be rewarded come the end of it.Madrigal wrote:Agreed getting his wages paid (if that's correct) does soften the blow but is that not a positive that gives us the opportunity to get another player (J Spearing please DF) in to replace him?
Re: Stu Holden was fantastic tonight for the U.S
I agree it won't gives any money to spend to buy a player in but it gives us money to spend on wages which from what I hear is the main issue. DF has said he would rather bring our players through but has also said the 4-5 in the devlopment sqaud won't step up on a consistant basis this next season. Surely it's better to spend the money on wages for a loanee for the season Thant see us struggle?Mar wrote:It's better than a poke in the eye sure. It's a video of his ridiculously hot girlfriend picking him up in the airport and he's being carted along on a luggage trolley - he's just being daft

Is it fair to say Johnny Evans effectively ended Stuart Holden's career

Yes. United should give us a player from their first team as recompense.

What's everyone got against sharp sticks all of a sudden? And has anyone ever tried poking their eye with one? I blame the Daily Mail for building it up into something its not.
