Rams to the slaughter?

Re: Rams to the slaughter?
Is that not what I said? It's not Pratley's fault he can't play right wing, it's not really Ream's fault he can't play centre half. They're ability to do ok in other positions should not cloud anyone (managers or people on this board) to believe otherwise.
And although this isn't the point I was aiming to make, Pratley still isn't very good even playing behind the striker. He can barely kick a ball straight and has scored 7 times in 74 appearances. He does however work hard and that occaisonally has its uses.
He is to Kevin Nolan what David Ngog is to Nicolas Anelka.

The ominous signs build...this from the Beeb just inviting disaster...

9 goals is my spectating record at a live game from Peterborough last year. Who knows? 5 all draw?Lost Leopard Spot wrote:The ominous signs build...this from the Beeb just inviting disaster...the beebeecee wrote: Derby paid their first league visit to Bolton in September 1888, they won 6-3; no other visiting club since has scored more than six in a league game on Bolton soil.
I predict a horrible rainy nil nil in reality.

I'd rip Dougie's hand off for a nil niller tonight. Sadly though that isn't going to happen.

Re: Rams to the slaughter?
The season we signed him, the season that he was in the Swansea team that got promoted, he had a scoring ratio of greater than 1-in-4. That's at this level. I'm not buying into the idea that we don't have the players at this level to compete, or that they aren't good enough. He doesn't need to be Kevin Nolan, but then as you'll know it wasn't a direct comparison. Kevin Nolan is no Frank Lampard, but he still manages to compete at the same level through good management. Megson demonstrated how limited Nolan was by not playing to his strengths.Tombwfc wrote:Is that not what I said? You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

That won't have happened inside the first 10 minutes, I fear.CrazyHorse wrote:I'd rip Dougie's hand off for a nil niller tonight. Sadly though that isn't going to happen.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Re: Rams to the slaughter?
I don't understand the problem of Ream sitting in the back 4 - we are desperate to find a back 4 that works and DF will either have to go Ream/Mills or Wheater/Mills if Knight is dropped tonight. Ream looked solid enough on saturday when he dropped to centre back and if he finds some form this will allow spearing to protect the back 4 while medo plays a more attacking role
if i were dougie I would do the latter and stick with it until it gels
not that nervous about the score tonight, just nervous DF might STILL pick Huggy-Bear Knight

Re: Rams to the slaughter?
Interested to see the line-up for tonight after the subs and such for the last game.
In hindsight I think the meeting that may/may not have happened towards the end of the window might have been more along the lines of "buck your ideas up or you'll play in the reserves" rather than "I'll sell you back to Boro". Should certain players find themselves in reserves what with the loan window being open for 7 weeks anything's possible. With it being a midweek DF can use the resting players/long season/thick and fast excuse for dropping anyone. Sounds like certain players have used up their lives already so I'm hoping he can do what the previous manager failed to do.

The players you fail to sign never lose you any money.

I think we'll beat Derby tonight. They're a pretty poor side despite the win over Millwall and the two games in quick succession will favour us.

I've been wrong with every prediction I have ever made so we'll draw or lose.

Re: Rams to the slaughter?
If one thing's in our favour we'll probably be seen as easy to beat right now. Derby will come wanting the points. If we hit them quick, say three goals in about ten minutes, we may get the edge and win.

Re: Rams to the slaughter?
Dougie's talking "strongest" side tonight. Shouldn't we be doing that every game? Moritz is going to be side-lined three to six weeks with a groin strain. All from B.N.

It helps if you have a strongest side. Am I right in thinking the sides put out so far have all been slightly different from the last, with all of them popularly characterised as shit?thebish wrote:you'd certainly hope so!TANGODANCER wrote:Dougie's talking "strongest" side tonight. Re: Rams to the slaughter?
We dropped a clanger not playing our strongest team against Shrewsbury in the cup - going into injury time & losing on penalties began the confidence slump - I just dont get tinkering with a team that needs to remain constant.
He doesn't know what his best starting 11 is yet, and who can blame him given what's unfolded since then - the rot needs to stop tonight before gaps in the league start to open. Every team has a bad spell at some point, I'm just optimistically looking at the opening 6 weeks have been ours... gulp....

Re: Rams to the slaughter?
I doubt losing on penalties to Shrewsbury has damaged us to the extent we're as shit as we are. If it did then it would only highlight how mentally weak our players are. Whilst I think a few are mentally weak, the problems go far deeper.
