Lots of rumours of a fall out between toxic Evatt and Charles, and its the club who have forced this deal

I wonder if Mother Sharon and saint Ian were not a fan of Dions alleged female conquests outside of his relationship?
Re: In, Out, Shake It All About: January 2025 Transfer Window
Dion going is probably peak Evatt.
That performance might have been a reaction to how he's been treated?
I do think the players are disconnected from the management. I have yet to see any player celebrate with the bench for a while. Collins did acknowledge the away end today so they at least appreciate the fans.
I don't think Sharon Brittan understands how quickly this could turn.
Is this Ian's Rasiak moment? He's had a few other "manager" moments.

They would've got rid of him in the summer surely?officer_dibble wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2025 10:18 pmI wonder if Mother Sharon and saint Ian were not a fan of Dions alleged female conquests outside of his relationship?

You could argue that for roughly the same amount, we've now got a player that's 4 years younger and a more saleable asset.
And the value was probably at its peak this window.

Totally understandable, totally predictable, less believable.Bertie Wooster wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2025 10:13 pmLots of rumours of a fall out between toxic Evatt and Charles, and its the club who have forced this deal
Nah. They're not all that prim and proper. Ask Amy, or for that matter the doorman at Maryport Labour Club.officer_dibble wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2025 10:18 pmI wonder if Mother Sharon and saint Ian were not a fan of Dions alleged female conquests outside of his relationship?
You could indeed - it's a logical argument - but I wouldn't necessarily try it with the angrier sections of Bolton's support... and there's plenty of 'em.
McAtee (assuming that's who you mean) has a lot to prove before he's held in the same regard.

Huddersfield have had Dion on a list for a while. I suspect the structure of the deal for Taylor had more impact on this going ahead than anything related to fallings out at our end. There's over £2m they don't have to give Luton unless/until they go up. That's allowed them to pay more upfront for Dion, making it acceptable to us.

Dion has been shite for ages, so in isolation I’m not fussed about this. Slightly concerned that Evatt will be allowed to sign a replacement, though.
Re: In, Out, Shake It All About: January 2025 Transfer Window
I was referring to the more immediate signing of Randall, but McAtee's signing does fit better in this instance.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2025 10:40 pmTotally understandable, totally predictable, less believable.Bertie Wooster wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2025 10:13 pmLots of rumours of a fall out between toxic Evatt and Charles, and its the club who have forced this deal

Feels like a punch to the gut this. I understand the thinking from a business perspective, sell players to get a return on investment so they don't end up going the way of Elmander and leaving on a free but ffs this stinks of bad business. We didn't flog Elmander to close rivals to help facilitate their promotion bid.
Letting Morley go on loan to help their promotion bid and leaving us with Scotty 'doesnt know when to retire' Arfield was just stupid. We might as well just flog Morley now and be done with all this beating around the bush nonsense to avoid flogging him last minute to Wycombe when we will undoubtedly accept a lower fee now they're heading out of major promotion candidate territory and into potential candidates.
As for flogging strikers, we've had Adeboyejo half assing it around the pitch for months now, he should've been the first on the chopping block. At least Dion put in a shift every match. No wonder Charles wanted to go, probably looked at our chances and thought we've got no fkin chance under Evatt so why not go. Had we removed Evatt, maybe we'd've had a different story.
With all the talk of his off the field scoring prowess, at least he was scoring on and off it.
Maybe they thought the win tonight would soften the blow. Not only did we put in an inept performance (albeit winning), they come out with this gem after the match.
FFS Bolton.
The comment:
'We 100 per cent need to sign a replacement and as I have said all along there will be ins and outs in this transfer window and I want to freshen the squad up. We will continue to look to do that.'
Is just aggravating. We didn't need any more strikers, what we needed was to improve the squad. Not sell off the best bits because our season has gone to the shitter. We could've lined up a new striker and brought him in as Dion was going, not come out with this message while we reflect on why it is we've persisted with the likes of Cameron over the hill Jerome, or even brought in Dan can't trap a ball N'lundulu.
We've brought a lot of players in that half arse their performances. Dion wasn't one of those. Not always the most clinical, but certainly one that worked his socks off and got the goals. Fair play to the guy.

I'd argue Dion's been as good as he's ever been, but he's just been getting less chances because as a collective our performances have been shite. The guy's been feeding off scraps.
Re: In, Out, Shake It All About: January 2025 Transfer Window
Ah, didn't know whether you were eluding to Charles' half hour performance against Rotherham and his subsequent miss which may have been a contributing factor towards the decision to let him go.

Needs a scapegoat now though doesn’t he? Although yeah it might have made sense to sell him in the summer - get more money than a panic sale after you’ve fallen out with him.DJBlu wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2025 10:20 pmThey would've got rid of him in the summer surely?officer_dibble wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2025 10:18 pmI wonder if Mother Sharon and saint Ian were not a fan of Dions alleged female conquests outside of his relationship?
Sharon’s taking the piss out of her customers now though.

Apparently (I haven’t checked) he’s got the division’s highest number of Big Chances Missed (12). But we always knew he had that in his locker.
I liked Dion a lot but he was far from perfect and no matter what player goes, I stay.
The question is who replaces him. I understand why confidence in that process is low.

Collins will be having that #10 shirt next season.
I know that means bugger all to anyone else.

Re: In, Out, Shake It All About: January 2025 Transfer Window
The highest number of big chances missed was frustrating, no doubt, but a player is more than just their goalscoring output. Okocha hadn't scored for a year at the club but it was clear how much of his impact was being had on the team. His pressing was a standout feature of some of our best performances. We've seen other players screw up close chances, Vic, Collins, etc. so I don't think Charles was alone in that category.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2025 11:01 pmApparently (I haven’t checked) he’s got the division’s highest number of Big Chances Missed (12). As for question in who replaces him. We got rid of Dapo and brought in Shola Shoretire. I fully expect us to bring in a loan signing that fails to deliver.
