Upsetting as it is to say - this is after all just people trying to do their job, and none of us would like to be howled at in our workplace - I'm afraid I have to agree that only the entoxification of the atmosphere, particularly at home games, might persuade Sharon that the project has gone bad. It's hard to give it the One Club One Town talk when the derision rains down.Bertie Wooster wrote: ↑Thu Jan 02, 2025 4:44 pmThe more frequently and louder the fans chant anti Evatt songs as they apparently did yesterday at Mansfield - he will go, either voluntarily (agreeing a pay off etc) as his narcissistic personality won't be able to handle the 'we want Evatt Out', 'Ian Evatt your football is shite' chants OR the board will have to sack him as it will start to affect the players (although they can't get much worse) and get so toxic that they have to act.

Fair enough pal. I’m fortunate enough to not have to not bother now. Have to go to Rotherham but I can’t see me going Reebok again before season end.Frank Drebin wrote: ↑Thu Jan 02, 2025 5:31 pmI’ve had a season ticket for 32 consecutive seasons.
If we don’t make the playoffs and SB doesn’t remove Evatt at season end, then the only option I have as fan is to vote with my feet.

It already has? And she dug her heels in. I don’t think she’s going to change regardless. She might in the summer when they lose millions in ST sales but even then I wouldn’t bet on it.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Thu Jan 02, 2025 5:41 pmUpsetting as it is to say - this is after all just people trying to do their job, and none of us would like to be howled at in our workplace - I'm afraid I have to agree that only the entoxification of the atmosphere, particularly at home games, might persuade Sharon that the project has gone bad. Losing millions in ticket revenue?
That calls for another bond.

Considering the almost uniformly goalless and frequently gormless first halves served up at home, I think the Unibol crowds have been relatively kind.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Thu Jan 02, 2025 7:03 pmIt already has? Let me take you back, very aptly, to Phil Neal's last season. April 1992. It's the start of election week, and with Neil Kinnock's Labour party consistently in front (if only just) in the polls, the tang of overhaul is in the air. Bolton, having lost a play-off final 11 months earlier, are marooned in midtable - 12th, in fact. We've just lost two on the bounce, including 0-2 at home to Bournemouth, and are 10pts off the playoffs. If we think that's bad, imagine being our hosts, West Brom. They're loitering in 8th, in their first-ever season below the second tier – having been relegated the previous season under Bobby Gould, who's somehow still in charge despite being despised by every Baggies fan.
Anyway. There's still 10,000 on at the Hawthorns - and mark you, this is only the third time that season we've played in front of a five-figure league crowd, all away (the others being at Stoke and the Christmas game at Huddersfield). It takes 15 minutes for West Brom to go in front, and less than 30 seconds of their home fans celebrating before they all, apparently to a man, adopted the Bread of Heaven tune and belted out "We still hate you, Bobby Gould." More than an hour later, after they've watched our 10 men (Mark Patterson getting first go of the soap before half past three) go 2-1 up, the home fans will welcome a late equaliser with the same pattern - celebrate then berate.
Both teams stay down. Both teams change their manager in summer. Both teams go up the next season. Just sayin', like.

We finished 13th, was it? Stockport and Huddersfield in the play-offs. Birmingham in the autos.
Does that mean the new Walker and McGinlay are due to show up any minute?

Re: The ianevattable sacking
I can’t remember a manager receiving more obvious widespread discontent at a home game than Evatt did bar Megson. Perhaps I’m misremembering. I mean McFarland got some nasty treatment from some behind the dugout as I suspect a few others have. Plenty of moans. Plenty of ‘hate the manager’ things said. But I’m just not sure you will get much more widespread discontent from Bolton fans than has been seen already. You had the home fans chanting against him at home against Wigan. Away fans yesterday called for his head.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Thu Jan 02, 2025 9:53 pmConsidering the almost uniformly goalless and frequently gormless first halves served up at home, I think the Unibol crowds have been relatively kind.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Thu Jan 02, 2025 7:03 pmIt already has? Whilst I suspect that is kind in the sort of ‘broad football sense’ its probably up there for Bolton fans.

It’s the new Rioch we need. More than anything. The chosen one to lead the club out of the doldrums.GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Thu Jan 02, 2025 10:08 pmWe finished 13th, was it? Stockport and Huddersfield in the play-offs. Birmingham in the autos.

To Ghost's point, Walker was already at the club - as were Tony Kelly, Scott Green, Mark Patterson, Phil Brown, Mark Seagraves, Alan Stubbs and a young stripling called Jason McAteer, all of whom played major roles (many now forgotten) in the immediately subsequent promotion. The tools were there (with literally about three judicious additions), it's just that the manager had run out of inspiration.

Not seeing a Jason McAteer, but we have lads who can very clearly get a team out of this division with the right leadership.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Thu Jan 02, 2025 10:56 pmTo Ghost's point, Walker was already at the club - as were Tony Kelly, Scott Green, Mark Patterson, Phil Brown, Mark Seagraves, Alan Stubbs and a young stripling called Jason McAteer, all of whom played major roles (many now forgotten) in the immediately subsequent promotion. Collins is an obvious one. Out of sorts in a crap side and scoring goals regardless.

I don’t blame anyone not going these days, Evatt’s brand of football is dull and we’ve been rumbled by other savvy managers. Not only dull but ineffective and so predictable.officer_dibble wrote: ↑Thu Jan 02, 2025 5:44 pmFair enough pal. I’m fortunate enough to not have to not bother now. The problem is that for all his goals and finishing prowess McGinlay worked three times harder than Collins does. And did so I’m guessing more or less because he was scared what Bruce would do to him if he didn’t.GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Thu Jan 02, 2025 11:02 pmNot seeing a Jason McAteer, but we have lads who can very clearly get a team out of this division with the right leadership.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Thu Jan 02, 2025 10:56 pmTo Ghost's point, Walker was already at the club - as were Tony Kelly, Scott Green, Mark Patterson, Phil Brown, Mark Seagraves, Alan Stubbs and a young stripling called Jason McAteer, all of whom played major roles (many now forgotten) in the immediately subsequent promotion. We don’t have imo many of the players in the list DSB supplied.

The closest player we have to McGinlay is Dion Charles. Which is why Super John loves him so

Absolutely ridiculous. Mind boggles at times.

I'd imagine it was intended as a joke, not exactly something you joke about though. Mental.
