Ukip has lost its seat in a potentially significant by-election in Thanet.

Labour triumphed in a tussle for the ward of Newington recapturing a seat lost to UKIP in May.

The results are:

Karen Constantine: 288 (Labour) - WIN
Duncan Smithson (UKIP): 229
Adam Dark (Con): 156
Ian Driver (Green): 20
Alan Hodder (Independent): 49
Grahame Birchall (ind): 10
Jordan Williams (Lib Dem): 12

Was that triggered by another Kipper not turning up to council meetings? Some top quality candidates they've got.

not really sure what's been going on since I left the area...
Seven candidates stood for election in the ward for Thanet council following the departure of former Ukip councillor Vince Munday, who has flown out with his wife Fa to start a new life in Thailand.

Analysis of the new Corbyn party intake shows an 119% increase in " high status city dwellers living in central locations with high paying careers". An over-representation of this group, as a percentage of the general population, by 33%.
It is also the most London-centric membership ever, with a 5 to 1 increase since Labour last won a general election.
That's not a leopard!

Yeah, class traitors.
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

The prime minister is also facing growing calls to scrap taxpayer confidentiality for companies, meaning they would be forced to publish details about their tax affairs.

Caroline Flint, a Labour MP and former cabinet minister, called for all corporate tax affairs to be made public.
Now there's something I could readily agree with Labour on!

Is that for real ?

Beyond parody.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

meanwhile - in the category "ace money-saving initiatives by the government"..
The Government is spending more money assessing whether people are fit to work than it is saving in reductions to the benefits bill, a damning official report has revealed

The study by the National Audit Office (NAO) found that the Department for Work and Pensions is handing over £1.6bn over the next three years to private contractors who carry out the controversial health and disability assessments. But at the same time, the Government’s own financial watchdog has warned that savings in benefits payments are likely to be less than a billion pounds by 2020 as a result of the new tests.

Not a surprise. Such things always cost more than the savings you can make. The admin involved in checking was always going to be costly.

Did its job though and secured them the Adam readership vote.

What a total utter wanker!

If you have to run and hide because of a decision you made Mr 'unt, maybe it was a lousy one in the first place!
