Re: Contract expiry
You seem to be missing three (or four) players there DSB.
Alex Finney - contract to June 2016
Tom Walker - contract to June 2017
Andy Hughes -
(that third goalie - Campbell?)

Re: Contract expiry
I've seen reports in the past couple of days that Holding's contract is up this summer.

Re: Contract expiry
Some fair calls. Andy Hughes was the auld fella brought in by Freedman as player / youth coach - he's now at Rotherham. The goalkeeper is 20-year-old Harry Campbell, who was on the bench for the Eastleigh replay but hasn't played a competitive minute; I don't really fancy chasing up all the Development contracts, and it'd cloud the picture a bit. Tom Walker's a good shout though, and Alex Finney.Lost Leopard Spot wrote:You seem to be missing three (or four) players there DSB.

Re: Contract expiry
Got any links for those, Spotty? This report says the club didn't specify contract lengths when signing up Walker, Holding, Channing Campbell-Young and possibly goalie Campbell - but as Dr Hotdog notes, the BN has recently said that Holding's contract is up in June.Lost Leopard Spot wrote:Alex Finney - contract to June 2016

Re: Contract expiry
Sorry no. They're dates I've got scribbled on an A4 sheet pinned behind my desk at work. I must have got all the dates from somewhere but i've not put my sources on the sheet. I'd make a terrible research assistant with an attitude like that, eh?Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:Got any links for those, Spotty? Re: Contract expiry
Just so I can be clear on this, if (if) we were to enter administration, all of our players would be free to walk away would they not?
Are there any other circumstances (say non-payment) where it would also be the case?

Re: Contract expiry
Just thinking that there's still some big earners onboard in the likely event of our relegation to the 3rd tier. You could look at that as a positive (Mark Davies could be the new Zico), but I can't help feeling we'll just roll our problems over to next season.

Re: Contract expiry
Under administration players HAVE to be paid before other creditors based on PFA rules. I'm not sure they can walk away in that situation, unless they don't receive pay.Lord Kangana wrote:Just so I can be clear on this, if (if) we were to enter administration, all of our players would be free to walk away would they not?

Re: Contract expiry
Do they receive full contract value under the rules that govern football? I know in the normal world, employees are preferential creditors - but that's usually confined to paying outstanding monies and if they're lucky a notice period.

I daresay deals could be struck, if both parties desire freedom.Lord Kangana wrote:Do they receive full contract value under the rules that govern football? I'm repeating what I've heard here and I haven't checked the rules, but I've heard that they have to be paid in full (to date) before anything else.Lord Kangana wrote:Do they receive full contract value under the rules that govern football? A quick check of wiki...
debts to other clubs or players are prioritised and must be paid in full before the club is eligible to compete again in the league.

Re Tom Walker:
http://www.theboltonnews.co.uk/sport/12 ... Wanderers/
The relevant bit is:
"He has been rewarded with a pro deal alongside three other scholars [Yvan Wassi, Channing Campbell-Young, Harry Campbell], although the length of the contract has not been released by the club."
That there Transfermarkt has him up till end of June 2017, but I don't know where they've got that from, probably made it up.

Re: Contract expiry
Looking at those contracts, that means, unless suitors are found (for us or the players) we have a hell of a debt to meet - looking at, in no particular order, Pratley, Spearing and Davies. I guess they're still on hefty contracts.

If the club isn't taken over it will have to enter administration or face liquidation. Unless of course, Eddie decides he will pump more money in.Lord Kangana wrote:Looking at those contracts, that means, unless suitors are found (for us or the players) we have a hell of a debt to meet - looking at, in no particular order, Pratley, Spearing and Davies. That has been the clear reality for a while now. We can sell assets to get through a month or months, but without an injection of cash the business cannot continue to operate.

Re: Contract expiry
Yeah, I'd guess the only big one we're clearing this summer is Wheater. I'd expect Spearing and Davies to be a few notches above their fellow 2017 expirees Moxey and Dervite, and Pratley similarly to be on more than his fellow 2018er Derik. Yes, Pratley only renewed last summer, but he was a free agent, we'd been impressed by him and he didn't rush into renewing.Lord Kangana wrote:Looking at those contracts, that means, unless suitors are found (for us or the players) we have a hell of a debt to meet - looking at, in no particular order, Pratley, Spearing and Davies. I was wondering if it was possible to start assessing (or second-guessing) our strengths, weaknesses and a possible XI for next season, but that might be a separate thread.
