I get random job vacancies emailed to me by Linkedin, all of which are totally irrelevant and are usually deleted without being read. This morning though I noticed a company that operates in an associated field are advertising a position and made me curious, so I read it as far as - "Applicants must be people fluent....".

I think you should find out the address of these people, go to it, and give them a severe rebuking.

In a totally unrelated pissed off moment, I noted on the BBC's very own website the other day the use of 'theres' instead of 'theirs'. And it wasn't a quote. I don't know why it irks me so, but...

I've also heard plenty of conversations from women over the years where they clearly weren't discussing a bloke's mental capacity. Apparently that should make us feel really cheap.

I'm staying out of the argument since to me 'bird' and 'tart' had entirely different meanings and only the latter was pejorative. However, I believe 'girl' originally meant a child of either sex. I discovered this 40 years ago when reading Afferbeck Lauder's book Fraffly well spoken.
