DSB has been tantalisingly dangling his carrot, promising youth and a fresh start, without committing to a thread.
Here's the list of contract expiries: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=23114&start=240" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Who'd you pick?
Amos
Wilson - Dervite - Holding - Moxey
--------------Spearing-----------------
-----------Mavies-----Pratley
--Clough-------------------------Clayton
----------------Woolery.
100 goals. Boom.
And certain liquidation.

Re: Next Year
I'm assuming we'll keep Holding and Woolery as they're surely on peanuts.

Re: Next Year
Holding and Woolery are out of contract.
I suspect every effort to shift Mark Davies, Pratley, Moxey and Spearing will be made to reduce the wage bill.
I think as things stand you have to count out anyone out of contract and all the big earners (though no doubt we'll be left with one or two).

But cheers Marco, I'll update the contract expiry thread with the confirmation that some of our kids are free in summer.

Re: Next Year
Clayton is largely untried having been injured for a fair spell. Holding looks like a first name on the sheet in central defence, but not sure where Wheater stands wages wise or if he is a better option than Dervite. Personally, the Lord loving a trier, I'd like to see Vela and Feeney in our camp. It isn't quite like Barcelona announcing a fire sale..is it?

Holding has shown a great deal of potential, could well get a better off er from elsewhere.BWFC_Insane wrote:Holding and Woolery are out of contract.

He could, but having been here for nine years or so, might he not want to stay? Especially if the (new?) manager can convince him that he's going to build the defence round him...LeverEnd wrote:Holding has shown a great deal of potential, could well get a better off er from elsewhere.
I think there's a good chance we could build a decent side round a bunch of lads who've come up through the Academy, spiced and stiffened with a couple of tough old lags in key positions (maybe centre-back and central midfield).

Re: Next Year
Unless Eddie has a dramatic change of heart, all of this relies on new owners. And then relies on their plans and ability to support them.
Therefore it is very hard to predict who may or may not stay.

Re: Next Year
I would certainly hope so, but we might not be in a position to offer him anything due to the ownership circus dragging on. If someone else does at Championship level, he'd be advised not to hang on I imagine.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:He could, but having been here for nine years or so, might he not want to stay? Re: Next Year
Whatever happens, this is speculation. It would be just as hard to imagine what would happen even if ED was staying. It's just a bit of fun. You can speculate if you wish. Nobody's going to be scoring points on it, and even if they did and you lost, nobody's going to expel you from 'proper' discussions just because you might be a shit Nostradamus. So give it a go. it might be liberating.BWFC_Insane wrote:Unless Eddie has a dramatic change of heart, all of this relies on new owners. And then relies on their plans and ability to support them.

Plus Lennon confirmed we turned down a bid for him in Jan. That doesn't make sense if we're not confident we can keep him.

Not saying we can't speculate. Just that there are more variables in play than would be normal.Lost Leopard Spot wrote:Whatever happens, this is speculation. If we haven't got new owners by next season will we still have a football club as we know it to support for example? Let alone worrying about the first team.

Re: Next Year
You could have even more fun then by imagining two scenarios: One with ED still in charge and one with new owners. Have my go. That way you won't feel guilty.BWFC_Insane wrote:Not saying we can't speculate. Re: Next Year
For the porpoises of this thread, let us assume Bolton Wanderers still exists. All other variables are up to you to conjure with. I think we might have new pauperish owners who may or may not dump Lennon, but who aren't going to splash the cash in a wild manner. Hence why my 'team' is composed of mostly 'now' players.BWFC_Insane wrote:Not saying we can't speculate.
