Is there any possibility that this Tamaz chap comes up with the cash and then he fails the FA's fit and proper test? That'd put the cat amongst the pigeons

None whatsoever. He passes the tests. They aren't universal, comprehensive, rigorous or targeted.Harry Genshaw wrote:Is there any possibility that this Tamaz chap comes up with the cash and then he fails the FA's fit and proper test? That'd put the cat amongst the pigeons

Really? I know initially they weren't particularly robust when Shinawatra first rode into Man City but Cellino was originally banned at Leeds because of some outstanding debt or other.Lost Leopard Spot wrote:None whatsoever. They are all based on specifics like not having been on a footballing board that has twice gone into insolvency, etc. There are no probing questions about being Mr big in diamond smuggling circles, or how many opponents have been kneecapped on your orders. As far as the League is concerned Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi would pass fit and proper status with flying colours...Harry Genshaw wrote:Really? He's a tosser and a bizarre sod, but there are worse that tick none of the boxes.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Poor Deano.
Re: The breaking News thread...
Is it really just as easy as rocking up and saying 'look at him, he's a billionaire' and HMRC just nod and give you another month to go back to doing whatever you like?BWFC_Insane wrote:Not saying he's trying to screw anyone over or is in cahoots. But let's say he doesn't like the takeover options as presented and the ST are too early to take and convince a court that they are a viable takeover option, striking a preferred bidder deal with an international billionaire might buy some time. Lots of deals fall apart during due diligence.Lost Leopard Spot wrote:Hang on a minute. No it doesn't. He can take as long as he wants. That makes no difference to his motives.BWFC_Insane wrote:That argument goes both ways. If a billionaire genuinely wanted to buy the club and has been knocking around since last August why are things still not sorted a few days from a court hearing?Lost Leopard Spot wrote:So, with this 'genius' idea in mind, what's the holdup? How come this dastardly plan hasn't already been implemented?BWFC_Insane wrote:Someone has tweeted Iles this and it did get my mind thinking...
Basically the suggestion is that the activity this week is to name a preferred bidder ahead of Monday to earn an extension on the hearing. Basically rock up to court and say, hey our takeover is progressing we have a preferred bidder, he's a billionaire don't you know. Then get an extension and go back to square one and perhaps give the ST more time?
I mean granted preferred bidder status doesn't mean you are committed to anything.
In fact why haven't they gone further and offered to amalgamate their consortia, but just so they can nick any good ideas off of this patty?
Uh?
In fact why bother telling Roj the Tam, why not just rock up in court and lie about it, saying Roj is about to wire some money over, it's in the post, that sort of thing??
But if ED and the ST want to screw over HMRC by using Tamraz as bait, they could have launched that plan on Monday... because that is what you're saying: Eddie Davies in cahoots with a rump unelected self aggrandising bunch want to dupe HMRC in a court of law by using a third party as bait!
Think about it and then tell me the flaw in that grand plan. (Clue: length of jail sentence is just the fxcking start...)
And the jail sentence is nonsense. Last time we told the court that the Emerson group was buying the car park and instead we've done some sort of deal with a different business that may or may not be a sale. As far as I know there have been no arrests made.
That just seems like a completely nonsensical conspiracy theory to me.
Does anyone have any reliable source as to what Roger's wealth is?

Iles reckons Tamraz is struggling to prove he has the funds.
Iles also raising the prospect of admin again today. Seems like sale of Euxton would be to provide funds for admin if no takeover deal can be done before tomorrow. Or some such nonsense...

He's been touting / pushing Sport Shield for weeks now because they are were feeding him information, and because it's now looking unlikely that they will get it, he's spouting bollocks to try & diss the Tamraz bid
Tammy has more money / loose change in his wallet than Sport Shield or ST have in their bank accounts (oops forgot ST don't even have a bank account)
I hate to say it but it appears that a certain Mr Nixon is closer to the club & knows much more about what's happening at the club than Iles.

We shall see. I think if anything Iles is keenest on a ST bid. Think he's said so.Peter Thompson wrote:IMO Iles knows feck all....BWFC_Insane wrote:Iles reckons Tamraz is struggling to prove he has the funds.

But I don't see why he'd have anything to gain deliberately dissing a bid either.
We'll see. I think that being a billionaire and having the willingness or even ability to put several million down on the negotiating table are not the same thing.

Re: The breaking News thread...
Well, you can't fault ED for carrying out his own due dilligence. People have critised him for dragging his feet but I certainly wouldn't want the club to be handed over to the first person who comes along.
Do not trust atoms. They make up everything.

Lennon 'confident' of takeover before Monday. That's according to Chris Hall sports reporter from Granada, but I'm guessing all the usual lot will be at the press conference.

Re: The breaking News thread...
Surely it would be easier for a bidder to wait until we enter administration than to have to pick up our outstanding tab?
If we're discussing wealthy people and their motives, they usually dont get rich by pissing money or being overly sensitive to the needs of others. I dont see why they would jump in now and pay off outstanding bills. Whats in it for them?

You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.

Indeed. It is a question that is fair to ask. I suppose that the only answer could be retention of certain assets. If for example a bidder wants the training ground kept they would have to do the deal prior to admin.Lord Kangana wrote:Surely it would be easier for a bidder to wait until we enter administration than to have to pick up our outstanding tab?

Re: The breaking News thread...
Iles is going off third or fourth hand rumours and we are turning them into fourth or fifth hand. Not his fault he knows feck all because that's what those running the club have decreed we deserve to know.
My own bit of conjecture is based on the timescales, and I believe no one will take over and we will go into admin. The trust will then restructure and run us as a lower league club because we will no longer be attractive to investors.

This. Folk inside the club don't know what is going on entirely. Short of tapping Eddie's phone all Iles or anyone else can go off is what their club sources tell them. Their club sources may or may not be accurate because clearly lots of games are taking place and lots of rumour and counter rumour.LeverEnd wrote:Iles is going off third or fourth hand rumours and we are turning them into fourth or fifth hand. People expect miracles from the local paper in my view. I think Iles does a decent job in what clearly have been exceptional circumstances.
