The run-in

Re: The run-in
I think it will take us 6 games to get the 7 points (beating Preston mid March). After that there will be 9 games left, the next being a key one away at Bristol. My gloomy prediction is that after defeat down there they will give up and finish the season with the same pathetic whimper as last season. Lennon will leave and the Phoenix will begin to stir in the ashes with the appointment of an inspirational new manager for League 1. We will be good again, just not until most of the current shower have cleared off.

To be fair I've sobered up too and have now taken the sarcasm level to a more reasonable five out of ten.LeverEnd wrote:That'd be me then.CrazyHorse wrote:There's a very real chance that on Sunday morning we could be four points from safety with 14 games to go. I did have my head nearly ripped off by an osteopath yesterday. My neck feels better but I t hasn't helped with the relegation woes I'm afraid.
Obviously it isn't literally all over but after my drunken pessimist posts of the weekend I've sobered up, thought about it and can't see where enough points will come from.

I genuinely think we will get out of this. Stabilise the home form and a lorry load of good fortune and we'll be reet.

Re: The run-in
Right now it is hard to be optimistic about next season either. However, given by then we're likely to be liquidated or with new owners, one would hope that the new owners are in a position whereby we can build for the future. I don't think things will be sorted enough for us to be a credible league one (or championship) force next season but if we get new owners we must tie down our youngsters and build from there, sensibly. I doubt we'll be able to chuck money at it.LeverEnd wrote:I think it will take us 6 games to get the 7 points (beating Preston mid March). In an ideal world next season is the stabiliser, the stopping of the rot, which has plagued the club really for the last 5 seasons, where we have slipped incremently down the leagues.
Stop the rot, stabilise, build a base and go from there. If that happens I can see things turning really quickly under the right circumstances.

Re: The run-in
There's a parlour game to be played, probably on a fresh thread, hypothesising about next season's XI. Obviously there's lots up in the air - not least the division it'll play in - but as with last season (albeit under different circumstances) the contract expirations, not to mention the possibility of relegation-prompted departures of those still under contract (eg Mavies? Pratley? Vela?), make for some interesting thoughts as to the make-up of next year's team.BWFC_Insane wrote:In an ideal world next season is the stabiliser, the stopping of the rot, which has plagued the club really for the last 5 seasons, where we have slipped incremently down the leagues.

The rot really set in 9 years ago when yon big lad left. Our debt has grown in inverse proportion to our effectiveness on the field ever since.
Perhaps its time to stop looking for a stop-gap and start asking them to pull their collective fingers out?

Draw the best result? Keeps both teams closer, though I think Fulham are more likely to pull away.

Re: The run-in
Hopefully Leeds will be distracted, rumblings of more protest against Cellino in our game. Hasn't helped that they've made it Cat A, so £37 behind the goal and £40+ on the sides. Outrageous. No love for Leeds United but that fcuker needs ousting.

Because I just read it and thought it would make an interesting backdrop to our game when we play them soon. And what Hoboh said.Bruce Rioja wrote:Why do you keep banging on about Leeds?
And this is the run-in thread and they are up soon in our run-in?

Re: The run-in
Currently, the three teams above the drop zone are averaging a point per game. To finish above one of them, we'll probably have to match that ppg AND close a seven point gap. In other words, we need 22 points from 15. So far this season, we've managed 24 from 31.

Re: The run-in
Since this was posted we've got one point from three games. Which means we can now afford one more loss, and then we need six draws and five wins. There is no way that is feasible...TonyDomingos wrote:Currently, the three teams above the drop zone are averaging a point per game.
