New Owners, Lennon goes, who do you think want to replace

Post by Hoboh » Thu Feb 18, 2016 2:54 pm

Just thinking, who we'd like and what would be a smart move from new owners?

Depends on budget I guess and what the aim is, stabilisation or looking at being upwardly mobile.

David Moyes might be a bit ambitious in any case.

Nigel Pearson, not keen on him but nobody can doubt the job he did at Leicester and has the right experience.

I'd probably be happy with Phil Brown to be honest. Knows how to promote a team. And we may need a couple of promotions.

Pep Guardiola without a scintilla of doubt. Him or Mick McCarthy, or .... fxck knows really.

I reckon Lennon might do alright with money to buy non-shit players

I'd believe that more if some of our problems hadn't been down to poor tactics, coaching, formation and substitutions, Boz. There's no doubt he's been dealt a shit hand, but it seems to me he's played it poorly.

As to the boss, depends on the finances and division. I'll get mocked for this but I'm too old to care: if we went down and didn't intend to spend our way to promotion, I'd try to nick Keith Hill off Rochdale. You want to maximise resources? He's the only manager in two generations that's got Dale promoted, then he led them to a ninth-placed finish in the Third Division - their highest since 1947. Left for second-tier Barnsley, where he had to sell his best player (some herbert called Vaz Te), but kept them up; they sacked him, then went down the year after. Went back to Rochdale, who'd been relegated, and led them back up again. Tries to play football, knows the lower leagues (and where the bargains are). We could do a lot worse. And frequently do.

If Sports Shield get it then I think Phil Brown becomes a distinct possibility.

+1

We need someone that can get the best out of our younger players and some lower league journeymen. I don't see us having many pennies to spend any time soon.

Quite. And although he's not everyone's cup of camomile, and has had his downs as well as ups, Browny's far from the worst manager: got Hull promoted, and has done well at Southend - play-off defeat, play-off success and they're 7th in the Third Division now. Studied under Rioch and Allardyce, too, and has stated an intention to mix the best of those two titans.

We've got Neil Lennon. Nothing mentioned yet of off-loading him.

That'll be my first test of new ownership, after they change the blue seats to white and the red to blue at the Macron.

I absolutely disagree, mate. Lennon should've been scouring the European and global markets like a man possessed, and what's he turned out? complete and utter fecking shite like Madine, Dobbie, Wilson and so on. Jon McGovern was scouring the local pub sides to get the best players we could get in in similar circumstances - Lennon's just proved, to me, that he's a lazy, unthinking, clueless c*nt.

I'd like to see what Lennie would do with some money to spend and a steady hand steering the ship!
