^^ Indeed not. He deserves praise and thanks for all the money he's put into the club. The question remains though, how on earth could a multimillionaire with such business accumen let one of his ventures get almost 200m in debt without doing something about it? That is a real worry.

Re: The breaking News thread...
If this latest twist is true (and I doubt personally that it is), and he (ED) has changed the boundaries at the very last minute to get a share of future profits - then IMO he does deserve all the shit that he will get from the fans, because he's putting the future of our club at risk because of his personal greed.thebish wrote:BWFC_Insane wrote:^^It sounds like something that ED has introduced fairly recently. Perhaps responsible for the variety of 'a deal is close....oh it isn't' moments as that would impact on a buyers business plan.
He also wants a suite naming after him.
Nixon has joked that it would be more appropriate to name a stand after him, 'the ignominious end'.
well - nixon is a cock then... ED is not deserving of public disgrace or shame.
However, I would say that surely this would have been part of the ongoing negotiations and I'm sure that's he's not just said this yesterday, when presented with a contract to sign - oh btw can I just insert a line in the financials that I get a % of any future profit
I've no issue with naming a suite after him though, I'm surprised that's not already happened.

No, doesn't give him enough credit to do what he wants (although all the assets are his). I certainly haven't got to the stage I'd want to publicly hang him yet. Isn't the proof point going to be whether we end up in new ownership with zero (or low) capital debt? Rather than "ohh look he's nipped to the gents, how we going to conclude a deal now?"Tombwfc wrote:Does that really give him enough credit to do literally whatever he wants though? Like if we get wound up tomorrow it's all fair enough because Campo.
I'm not up for hanging him, but I can see why buyers would be put off by what he's apparently asking for. Currently the club is losing millions per month, selling off assets, fighting the taxman and heading for League One. If someone buys the club and turns all that around, why should they pay Eddie a yearly bonus for it?

The important thing is the club. Not Eddie. Pressure needs to be applied to ensure the club survives. Why would I care about Eddie Davies feelings?thebish wrote:you REALLY think ED is deserving of public disgrace and shaming??? really??BWFC_Insane wrote:Why on earth not?thebish wrote:BWFC_Insane wrote:^^It sounds like something that ED has introduced fairly recently. He has let us get into this position. This should have been sorted way before now. We are now dicing with having no club left. And that is a disgrace.
The fact he invested in the club does not give him total freedom without scrutiny now. I haven't got much time for him since the past few months. Before that I wouldn't have said much bad about him. But the current situation can't be ignored.

What are you babbling at? Pressure needs to be applied to make sure the Club survives? What does that mean?

No. But because Campo he doesn't deserve public disgrace or shame.Tombwfc wrote:Does that really give him enough credit to do literally whatever he wants though? Like if we get wound up tomorrow it's all fair enough because Campo.
Which is what was being talked about. As you knew full well.

Re: The breaking News thread...
If he sorts out the takeover in the next week or so and we have new owners in place, I think that he'll be remembered quite fondly. However, if we are now literally at the signing of contracts stage and he's just this minute added that he 'now also' wants a % of future profits and a stand named after him or there's no deal & the takeover falls through due to these last minute demands then IMO he's a cnut.Tombwfc wrote:Does that really give him enough credit to do literally whatever he wants though? Bit of public pressure and scrutiny as to what is actually happening. He's had an easy ride up to now. That is thankfully changing and people are waking up to the fact that he is making the sale of the club incredibly difficult and for the wrong reasons.Worthy4England wrote:What are you babbling at? And you're going to apply this pressure, how? And what's the "thankfully it's changing" bit. I didn't hear you banging that drum when we signed Anelka or Elmander..BWFC_Insane wrote:Bit of public pressure and scrutiny as to what is actually happening. He's had an easy ride up to now. See I'm not criticising what he did, I'm critical of what he's doing now.Worthy4England wrote:And you're going to apply this pressure, how? And what's the "thankfully it's changing" bit. He can do what he wants and is doing that. I don't see any harm with fans understanding the situation and having the knowledge out there and then saying and doing what they like. It may just prompt some action. If not then nothing is lost.
I personally do not care of a multi millionaire tax dodger's feelings get hurt along the way. And frankly I'm not sure why anyone would?

Good to see your true colours heading up the mast. I'll take all the good, but fck you if any bad comes down the line. We don't like tax dodging millionaires except when they're bankrolling us? As for this 'fans knowledge" you have none. Zero, Zilch. Me neither.

How do you know this?BWFC_Insane wrote:fact that he is making the sale of the club incredibly difficult
If your answer is because Nixon/Isles/Twitter said so then go slap yourself until your brain engages itself.

Re: The breaking News thread...
If Eddie Davies is writing off one hundred and seventy five million pounds in debt I see no problem with him asking for a percentage of future profits. That's a clause I would have expected...
That's not a leopard!

Re: The breaking News thread...
Shouldn't this thread be re-named "The Breaking Rumour" thread ?
I gave up taking even the vaguest notice of Nixon around Veloso time. Iles, by his own frustrated words, is privy to f'call.
If they're really arguing about naming suites then we are now at the vinegar strokes.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Re: The breaking News thread...
Eddie Davies' latest alleged demands (if true)
1. % of ANY future TV & sponsorship money
2. Substantial bonus for ANY seasons spent in the championship (or premiership) in the next 5 years
3. A suite at the Macron named after him
I can't see this 1 & 2, but if they are true Eddie Davies is a grade A egotistical / greedy cnut and if I was a potential buyer I would tell him to feck off and go into administration.

Well, writing off nearly two-hundred million of debt is hardly a fairy story and must at least absolve him of name-calling.

IF TRUE ... & I seriously doubt it .... this is his advisors, possibly including Birch, trying to wring a bit of blood from a stone. Final dibs, "no harm in trying".
It could only arise of they've seen the buyers have/ promise of having some substantial funds. It may also reflect a view which is bolstered by three being more than one realistic bidder.
I can see an argument which says "hey, I've written off £180m. If you turn it around then that will be in no small part down to my generosity. So let's have a bit of that".
I can also see a reply which, however worded specifically, says "go fck yourself".
It's called 'negotiation'.

Supposed genius business man allowed the club to rack up £180 million of debt in the first place!
I'd name a stand the Eddie Davies vanity stand if that's what he wants.
Pay him a bonus?
What for, allowing Gartside to get us in the position we are now in?
Bollocks!

Way I see it is Eddie basically is saying, you invest your cash and work hard to sort out the mess I've left the business in, then I will have a cut of any profit you manage to make.bobo the clown wrote:IF TRUE ... & I seriously doubt it .... this is his advisors, possibly including Birch, trying to wring a bit of blood from a stone.
