Manchester Evening News published a list of the restaurants and takeaways with ZERO food hygiene rating.
First on the list is El Rincon. They have made a statement which you can read below their photo explaining their specific issue. I know some of you have been before and Bruce raves about it.

^ yep, I've seen that but not their comments. I've been to el Rincon many times but not in the last three or four years. It did take a sudden and noticeable dip in standard so not surprised.

Spent yesterday afternoon at Iberica in Spinningfields. Never thought I'd say it but I reckon I've just found my new favourite Tapas restaurant. Outstanding nosebag and service in a fantastic place too.malcd1 wrote:Manchester Evening News published a list of the restaurants and takeaways with ZERO food hygiene rating.

PS - if any of you are going, please have the Jamón ibérico. I usually avoid this kind of thing as I find it too fatty and it takes ages to chew. This stuff, however, is from pigs fed purely on acorns and the resultant meat is a fecking sensation.

Any of you familiar with Quill on King Street? Hearing some fantastic reviews. Just had a look at the menus as I'd really like to try it out. If work are paying then it'll be for dinner - If I'm paying it'll be lunch.

Anyone any experience of the Beef and Pudding, just off Albert square in Manc? We're having a 'staff meeting' there in a couple of weeks and the menu looks spectaclier but I'd never heard of the place up to a couple of days ago.
(edit to add that the Steak & Lobster in the Radisson was more than a bit of a disappointment on our lastpiss up 'staff meeting' if I'm honest.)

In laws took us to Wild Honey in Mayfair last night. Omg. Second Michelin starred restaurant I've been too, second place I've eaten the perfect meal. Food was incredible, wine was better, topped off with a port older than me (possibly the best think I've ever drunk).
Glad I wasn't paying, mind!

Re: What are you eating and drinking tonight?
Had Danes over this week so took them to Yang Sing on Wednesday - good grief, I'd forgotten just how good that place is. Had the six course buffet - every mouthful of every course was an absolute joy. £250 for four of us. Took them to Old Trafford on Thursday for the Midtjylland game. £2K for a private box for five, the food was basically disgusting (and going cold). An absolute fecking rip-off, seriously. I'd have attempted to have got our money's worth out of the 'complimentary' bar had I not volunteered to drive.
Last night - East z East in Spinningfields. Behind "your cheque's in the post" and "I promise not to cum in your mouth" I have "I know a superb Indian restaurant" down as being the third great lie. However, East z East actually is (or z) a superb Indian restaurant. Absolutely wonderful stuff. Came to about £40 each with booze.

Yang Sing - yes indeedy. Was there a couple of times just before Christmas with the in laws. They generally want to go to another restaurant in China Town and I've struggled to get them to shift for years if for no other reason than I like trying new places (think it's full of memories for them, rather than any indication of the food).Bruce Rioja wrote:Had Danes over this week so took them to Yang Sing on Wednesday - good grief, I'd forgotten just how good that place is. Eventually armed with a full Christmas Market, I managed to get them in the Yang Sing. Was delightful.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

We went to the East z East in Whitefield last weekend. Without doubt the best curry house I've ever been in.Bruce Rioja wrote:Had Danes over this week so took them to Yang Sing on Wednesday - good grief, I'd forgotten just how good that place is. East z East is second only to Kabana in Cheetham Hill (Cheetham Hill Road, near the Prison)
From the outside it looks like a greasy spoon type cafe, but the food is utterly incredible
