A mate of mine who's a drinking buddy of a forward that Owen Coyle signed from Burnley, mentioned to me a figure of £20k per week....43 league minutes he played....Abdoulaye's Twin wrote:A week or total salary till end of season?jonnycooper wrote:As an aside! Doesn't surprise me. I hope he at least had the courtesy to lay out the table tennis equipment for training for that 20k.Worthy4England wrote:A mate of mine who's a drinking buddy of a forward that Owen Coyle signed from Burnley, mentioned to me a figure of £20k per week....43 league minutes he played....Abdoulaye's Twin wrote:A week or total salary till end of season?jonnycooper wrote:As an aside! Anybody know why we were back in the high court again on Friday?
Re: The breaking News thread...
The club gained a validation order from the High Court in the morning which enables them to continue trading and pay their playing staff at the end of the month.Hoboh wrote:Anybody know why we were back in the high court again on Friday?

If that is accurate I'm stunned at some of them, especially some from the summer just gone.

It's probably not too out of kilter with this division in total, Nixon gets to £6.8m across the screaming text - which is most of our senior players. The problem seems to be the relegation clauses that aren't (allegedly) there and the fact that we have no money - so in that sense any figure would look bad!Abdoulaye's Twin wrote:If that is accurate I'm stunned at some of them, especially some from the summer just gone.
If you look at the teams that came up, their wages were £3.5m MKD, Preston £5.7m and Rotherham £4.8m - those figures are almost certainly the year before when they were in League 1. Next nearest is a couple of mill higher than £6.8 I think - Brentford @ £8.9m. We're probably in about the right place if we don't go down...

And it all pales into insignificance when just one Man. Utd. player is closing in on £15m per year on his own.
Football's on it's arse.

Shows how poor Lennon is. He's pleaded poverty yet his signings are in excess of what the bottom 8 in this division are likely to be paying.
What a total mess.

Re: The breaking News thread...
I'm surprised at some of the summer wages given we knew we were not in a good place. I'm surprised Wheater who had been injured most of his last contract was offered that much on renewal. I'm surprised Feeney is virtually our highest earner - I thought he was on a more middling figure. I'm not surprised about Mavies and Spearing though. Wonder what Pisano is on seeing as he's due back in a few months...Worthy4England wrote:It's probably not too out of kilter with this division in total, Nixon gets to £6.8m across the screaming text - which is most of our senior players. Aye - that's where I keep coming back to. It can't have been a surprise to the Board that we were financially on our arse in the Summer.Abdoulaye's Twin wrote:I'm surprised at some of the summer wages given we knew we were not in a good place. Re: The breaking News thread...
If true these salaries are staggering....I don't think many will be surprised by M Davies, Spearing & Wheater etc....but some of the others are absolutely unbelievable, it's no wonder we are in the shit financially, who the hell approved these:
Feeney £17k - I thought he's be on about £6k-£7k
Heskey £7k - I thought about £3k - £4k
Trotter £11K - I thought similar to Feeney (around £6k-£7k)
Osede £10k - I thought would be on £5k max
Madine £8k - as above I would have thought £5k max
Pratley £14k - I thought would be around £10k
Amos £16k - we'd all heard about this weeks ago, but £16k a week is simply amazing

Where are those figures from? What's the reliability?
I admit to surprise at the Feeney one, as I thought at that point under Freedman we were supposedly reducing the wage bill.

Presumably that does represent a reduction. What must the likes of Eagles have been on?Lord Kangana wrote: I thought at that point under Freedman we were supposedly reducing the wage bill.
