He's a very lucky boy with the fact that we have neither an owner nor a chairman because otherwise he'd be out of here.

Re: Lennon out!
I think the fans have given him way too much slack. Even today they were singing for him to wave(which he duly did). Even with all the financial trouble this prick is the reason we're going down, no question about it.

Re: Lennon out!
Categorically you cant say he's the readon. There is far too much 'other' stuff going on, like players not being paid etc. However its fairly categorical he is a fckin clueless retard of a manager proving the theory that any mug could manage celtic succesfully correct. Do not want him here for pre season.

Re: Lennon out!
We're in desperate need of a striker who actually scores goals. If the Wollery lad is good enough, he's old enough. What have we got to lose from giving him a start? I read the other day that Max Claytron is eager to get back amongst it. Not sure how far away he is though. Some of the play looks decent if only we could finish.

Re: Lennon out!
Clayton wont play this season.
Woolery should start every week now, try and convince him to stay for next season. Not that lemon will give a fck, he wont be here!

Re: Lennon out!
I agree but Woolery should be starting for the sake of now, not just the future. He's got pace and mobility; he appears to know where the net is; and just as notably as that late winner vs Rotherham at home, during the build-up he chested down a pass for a team-mate to run beyond him in on goal - textbook target-man stuff.officer_dibble wrote:Woolery should start every week now, try and convince him to stay for next season.
I don't dislike any Bolton players but let's be honest: Heskey's a has-been, Madine's a never-will-be, Dobbie's a never-really-was. Woolery isn't exactly a nailed-on England legend but he's a might-be. But since that match-winning intervention against Rotherham, here's what Lennon has done with him:
Brighton (A): Benched until 84 minutes, despite Heskey being visibly f*cked from 55 minutes onwards. Result: Brighton pushed on and won.
QPR (H): Unused sub. Lennon only made two switches: Madine on for Heskey (53), Danns on for Clough (84). Result: two points dropped at the death.
Birmingham (A): Unused sub. Zach Clough the lone forward against Paul f*cking Robinson. Used subs: Danns (34), Dobbie (84), Silva (84). Result: inept defeat.
Burnley (H): Unused sub. Lennon goes for two (Heskey and Feeney) up top with Clough at the front of a midfield diamond, thus meaning we become one of the very few teams Burnley's regimented 4-4-2 actually outnumbers in midfield. Bravo. Subs: Madine on for Heskey (65), Dobbie for Clough (82), Silva for Spearing (89). Result: lead turns to loss.
Leeds (A): It's the diamond again. Leeds (1 league win in 11, coming off the back of a 4-0 midweek pasting, fans protesting against the chairman) go two up with goals from a bloke who hadn't scored in 16 games. Lennon brings on Woolery on 68 minutes, he scores within six.
I know I'm engaging in unprovable abstracts but the misuse - virtual non-use - of Woolery illustrates to me that Lennon doesn't know what he's doing. As I've said before, I get that he's been dealt a shit hand, but he's played it awfully.

Re: Lennon out!
Lennon is now gong on about Wellie not playing well enough to get in the team. Now if I remember rightly, he was having his best spell with us not that long ago, before being dropped
He's also going on about Woolery not being old enough etc, but seems to have forgotten that other youngsters playing regularly in the team don't seem to be suffering for it
I'm guessing he thinks Pratley, Mavies et al are playing well

I read it. Absolute crock of shit. I wonder if he's just settling scores and being an awkward bastard now as he must know (or even hope) his days are numbered.Abdoulaye's Twin wrote:Lennon is now gong on about Wellie not playing well enough to get in the team. Re: Lennon out!
The problem is Clough - or rather, Lennon's reaction to how to play him.
Clough (who is younger than Woolery) needs to play in the No.10 role, or at least off a striker. To Lennon, "striker" means target man – but even Lennon seems to have realised that playing Heskey (or Madine, etc) up top gives us no penetration and allows opposition defences to play a high line.
So obviously, he shoves a winger up front as well. Now he's got a target man who is either ancient or shit or both, with somebody fast but erratic alongside him. It's like watching the 1980s all over again, except that we have a genuine talent at No.10... but that means we're playing three strikers, which means we get overrun in midfield, which means we lose even if (as they don't always) the players bust a gut.
And come the next game, he fails again.
In a way it's the one-track tactical stubbornness of Coyle, with the general stubbornness of Megson, and the declining mental state of Freedman. But to give Lennon credit, he's not wedded to one tactical system: we've failed with 4-2-3-1, we've failed with a midfield diamond, we've failed spectacularly with a back three. It's starting to feel more like being managed by an irascible Sammy Lee, except there's an older, colder shadow falling across the club: the ghost of 30 years ago.

Re: Lennon out!
Doesn't take a genius to work out that the youngsters at the club are the only bright spot for the fans. Play them, they can't do worse and most will rightly give them some slack if they make a few cock-ups. No doubt Lennon would have refused to play Rooney when he was a teenager due to him being not ready or shite or summat.

Re: Lennon out!
At the time of Rooney's breakthrough in late 2002, Everton's strikers also included Duncan Ferguson, Brian McBride and Kevin Campbell. The kid wouldn't have had a sniff.Abdoulaye's Twin wrote:No doubt Lennon would have refused to play Rooney when he was a teenager due to him being not ready or shite or summat.
I vaguely remember a TW visitor who was otherwise positive about Lennon saying he had a terrible success rate at identifying forwards.

Re: Lennon out!
I hope to God it doesn't take as many pages as the Freedman out thread to get rid of this sorry excuse for a football manager.
Okay, we may play well in parts or on the odd occasion for most of the game Mr Lennon but that means the sweet sum of fcul all when we score constant nil points, you'd be happier in the Eurovision song farce.
In fact I hope we stay in Europe just long enough for you to start managing a Latvian 3rd div club, at least they have some decent looking hookers there if they haven't exported them all yet.

Steve Bruce reckons you're only as good as your strikers.
Look at ours and look at our league position. The correlation of our strikers being shite and being bottom ain't for nowt.

Re: Lennon out!
The defence is worse, compared to the rest of the division. We've conceded more than all bar two, but we've scored more than six teams (including 10th-placed Preston). We've had an erratic defence and an inefficient strikeforce. Having either is bad. Having both is deadly.Dr Hotdog wrote:Steve Bruce reckons you're only as good as your strikers.

As usual, the truth is slightly more complicated than a soundbite. For instance, I wonder what Steve Bruce reckons about Fulham scoring eight more than Middlesbrough but being 30 points behind them?

Re: Lennon out!
Lennon has fallen out with the players. Hardly a surprise. Blokes responsible. He wants to blame the circumstances but that just shows how mentally weak he is.
Easily the worst manager in this division and an unpleasant one to boot.
Please Deano, if you can, don't hang around, get shot pronto!
