The downward slide (as someone was good enough to correct me) started about 10 years ago. Since then we had what could've been a reasonable season under Coyle, which tailed off into shoite, and one late charge at getting back in the Prem under Freedman. All the rest have been overall backward steps, some with a fair amount of investment in them (how much did Megson spend, again?).

It would be good to think that next season, we have a tilt at trying to get back out of League 1, maybe with a goal-scorer in the team and something akin to a game-plan - that'd be a forward step for me.

Agreed, being competitive again would be great. But it may take more than one season, IF they don't have money to throw at it.

See they cancelled the press conference today but Holdsworth has done a video interview that the club will put up.

This is a smart move in my view because all the media questions today would be ones DH couldn't answer.

How much money? Is NL safe? etc etc....think he must have learned from going public after the initial announcement

This 100%, but as well as a goal scorer and a game plan it would also good to have a couple of mentally tough leader type players in the team, and a proper captain who leads by example and can organise & motivate on the pitch

We have a player embargo. Full embargo. That was the last I heard anyway...
None of this we've got an embargo that's not an embargo malarky. As far as I know. But I know jack Schitt ( I had a bunch of jokes on that theme once).
That's not a leopard!

We have a full embargo until we submit accounts that show we are FFP compliant and also contain directors statements. That has been from the previous regime.

Then the league will decide whether we have any ongoing embargo relating to the new ownership etc.

Think he was getting a tad emotional at the end! good to see.

We need to rally behind him now and give him and the club our full support.

Said what he thinks people want to hear I reckon. Lots of soundbites and little substance.

I really really hope this works out.

Aye, I'm suggesting he gives up that particular struggle. We've got more chance of staying up.

Deano said rather than wrote:The most important thing is the powers-that-be - Eddie Davies, Trevor Birch and the Football League have seen our intentions and what is there financially - for this season and next - and they are satisfied.'

Good stuff. Enough of the doubting Thomas stuff. League 1 still the most likely outcome but I am on board to support the fight by the players to stay up, even with the hopeless NL still in charge for now. Why else would I still care to be a supporter without hope? Long live BWFC.

When you consider where the club was a week ago, we're riding on clouds right now. A once mighty club in danger of folding like a chocolate model on a hotplate is now saved in the very best Dick Barton manner and ready to fight the savage foe again......to the tune of Over the hills and far a way....

"Thirty smackers on the drum, who will volunteer to come,
And fight the savage foe today, the Macron lads are here to stay.
Cheer the Whites, bring on the clowns, set em up we'll knock em down,
The Dean commands, the lads obey, oer Winter Hill and far away"..... :oyea: :oyea:
Si Deus pro nobis, quis contra nos?

Hadn't heard this before, but according to Neil Bonnar's off-pitch season review on the BN, Sports Shield were originally brought to the table because Gartside wanted to buy Davies out. That didn't work out; let's see if this version does...
